Warm-up: Exercise 1: Revise classroom vocabulary by asking Ss to look at the picture and say what they can see. Ss then listen and repeat the key words to practise pronunciation and word stress. Check that Ss know the meaning af all key words. Ss work individually or in pairs, looking at the picture and deciding which four things are not in the picture. Exercise 2: Read the instructions with the class. Ask two Ss to read aloud the example dialogue. Ss then work in pairs, taking turns to ask and answer. Tell Ss to try and remember their partner's answers because they will need them in Exercise 3. Exercise 3: Read the example sentence with the class. Point out the third person singular verb form and the use of but in the example sentence. Elicit a sentence using and. Exercise 4: Ss listen and repeat the key words. Teach any new words Ss need to talk about school subjects in their timetable. Ask two Ss to read aloud the example dialogue. Elicit one or two more dialogues from the class before Ss work in pairs.
