Preface
Preface
This document contains the information necessary for the preparation of a site conforming to NCR specifications. It is very important that the site complies with the requirements specified in this document because, once the equipment has been installed, deficiencies in site preparation or the problems caused by these deficiencies are much more difficult to detect and correct. Further, failure to comply with these requirements or to take proper steps to protect equipment against risks identified in this document may cause serious damage to the equipment and to the customers business. In addition to the need to comply with the requirements specified, electrical wiring and mechanical systems must also comply with all relevant codes, laws and regulations. It is important that the site be prepared by a customer or his agent who is fully conversant with the special requirements of electronic equipment. The responsibility for ensuring that the site is prepared in compliance with this document remains with the customer. For information and guidance only, a list is provided, in general terms, of those matters for which the customer is responsible. This list is not intended to be comprehensive, and in no way modifies, alters, or limits the responsibility of the customer for all aspects of adequate site preparation. NCR staff will be available to answer questions relating to the contents of this document but, except where the customer has been notified that a full or partial consultancy service is available and/or that NCR will be willing to undertake a preliminary or final site survey and the customer shall have entered into a formal contract with NCR q for provision of the same no comment, suggestion or advice offered or not offered about preparation of the site nor any inspection of the site whether before or after preparation is to be taken as approval of the location of the site and equipment or of its preparation and NCR will not be liable in respect of any comment, suggestion or advice given by its staff or in respect of any failure to give advice.
q
Finally, only the customer can know the full extent of damage which may be caused to his business by reason of failure of the equipment which is to be installed. For this reason it is the customers responsibility to ascertain the extent of any such possible damage to his existing or planned business, and to effect full insurance in respect of it.

Physical Requirements
It is the responsibility of the owning institute to ensure that the heights from the sidewalk to the facia items comply with any local regulations. Where no such regulations exist, it is recommended that the height to the bottom of the hole is as shown below.
19
Physical Requirements
To ensure that the temperature around the ATM is maintained during cold weather it is important that the wall opening be constructed such that airflow from outside to inside can not occur when the ATM is installed. Any cavity in the wall should not extend into the wall opening but be sealed to provide a flush surface. The gap between the ATM throat and the wall opening should not be filled with insulation to prevent airflow. Room temperature air should be allowed to circulate around this gap.

The following illustration shows the plan for a plinth for the 5684 when it is configured with a UL, RAL, French CS or UK Special security enclosure. Any such plinth must be constructed of a material, and in such a way, that it is capable of supporting the weight of the ATM. The six bolt holes shown around the perimeter of the plinth are optional and are intended for use with additional security bolts. These extra bolts need only be used if it is thought that the two bolts through the base of the standard ATM do not provide sufficient security.

Security Bolts
All 5684 terminals (except those fitted with the INSTA 612, the Enhanced INSTA 612, the CEN Grade A3 or Grade A5 security enclosure) should be bolted to the floor/plinth using two bolts fitted with anchor washers (Six bolts are required for the INSTA 612 and Enhanced INSTA 612, five bolts for the CEN Grade A3 and four bolts for the CEN Grade A5 security enclosures) fitted to anchor points in the floor/plinth. If the 5684 is to be bolted down, the floor/plinth must be capable of withstanding the loading imposed by the anchor points for the bolts. The size of the bolts to be used depends on the type of security enclosure. The bolts and anchor washers/anchors must be supplied by the owning organisation. Standard 5684 terminals fitted with a CEN Grade A3 security enclosure should be bolted to the floor/plinth using five bolts with anchor washers. Note 1: The anchor washer is to be 3mm thick (min.) with an outer diameter of 40 mm and an inner diameter of 18mm. Note 2: The centre bolt hole in the floor of the CEN Grade A3 security enclosure is counterbored to a larger diameter than the other four so that a security alarm sensor can be fitted within this bolt hole. Note 3: ATMs fitted with the CEN Grade A3 security enclosure and a security alarm sensor in the fifth centre bolt hole, supplied to customers in Germany, use a M12 diameter bolt in this bolt hole instead of a M16 bolt. Standard 5684 terminals fitted with a CEN Grade A5 security enclosure should be bolted to the floor using four bolts with anchor washers. Note 1: The anchor washer is to be 3mm thick (min.) with an outer diameter of 40 mm and an inner diameter of 18mm. Note 2: The four bolt holes in the floor of the CEN Grade A5 security enclosure are counterbored to a larger diameter.

Power Cable
The power cable supplied with the terminal is fitted with a NEMA type 5-15P power source connector. If this is not suitable for your use you must remove this and fit a suitable power source connector to one end. This connector must be wired as shown below. The power cable supplied is 3m (9.75ft.) in length. If it is necessary to increase this length to meet site requirements, then the extension must satisfy local or country regulations.
Warning
Note: The annotations within brackets are included to comply with United Kingdom legislation and refer to the markings on United Kingdom three pin plugs.
35
Grounding Requirements
The terminal operates from a single phase 3 wire supply; live, neutral and ground. The power requirements of this unit will normally permit it to operate within existing wiring configurations and from existing branch mains outlets providing: 1 Where this supply is provided from a general purpose distribution panel, then the other branch circuits from this panel must not be used to support heavy inductive loads such as air conditioners, elevators, microwave ovens, and so on. Nor may such equipment be operated on the same branch circuit as the terminal. If using distribution panels, all branch circuit grounding conductors must be connected to an insulated terminal strip in the distribution panel. The grounding conductor from the distribution panel to the building ground point must be at least equal in size to the power conductor necessary to supply the NCR system.
Note: The building ground point can affect data integrity. For additional information refer to the Data Line Transient Protection section of Attachment A. The voltage loss due to power interruptions must not be more than 50% of the nominal value for a maximum of one half cycle at a maximum rate of 1 every 10 seconds. The terminal meets NCR CES-2-11-09 and CES-2-11-10 (details available on request). The terminal meets FCC Class A and FTZ VDE 0871/0875 requirements for radiated and conducted emission.

Environmental Requirements
Barometric Pressure
q q
Operating and transit limits: 105kPa (15.2 lb. F/in.) Equivalent altitude: up to a maximum of 3000 metres (9750 feet).
The ATM will accommodate a positive external to internal pressure difference of up to 70 pascal (0.01 lbf/inch2) (or higher with the pressurisation feature fitted). The following test procedure will determine whether a proposed ATM site, or an existing ATM site, requires a pressurisation kit:
0
or a
q
to be fitted to the ATM security enclosure. The test procedure is to be carried out during a period when the environmental conditions are likely to produce a peak pressure differential greater than 70 pascal between the external ambient pressure and the pressure in the interior of the security enclosure.
Test Procedure Test Equipment for use at a proposed site or an existing site:
q
Absolute or Relative Pressure Gauge ( 0 to +100 pascal). Note: If an absolute pressure gauge is used, the minimum internal pressure will have to be measured and noted, then the peak external ambient pressure will have to be measured and noted. The pressure differential is obtained by subtracting the minimum internal pressure measurement from the maximum peak external pressure measurement.
q q q
Suitable length of airtight plastic tubing of internal diameter to fit pressure gauge connector Silicone sealant Superglue (for use when the ATM is on an existing site) Wall sealant (suitable for use in a proposed ATM site location).
Note: The test method decribed (for a proposed site, or an existing site) assumes that a relative pressure gauge is being used, that the external pressure is higher than the internal building pressure and that the interior of the security enclosure is at internal building pressure.
49
Environmental Requirements
Caution Do not attach the gauge if it is suspected that the internal pressure is higher than the external pressure, unless a suitable centre zero gauge is being used. 5 6 7 8 Record the peak differential pressure reading. Remove the pressure gauge from the end of the tube. Remove the tube from the hole in the exterior wall. Seal the hole in the exterior wall using wall sealant.
0
Test Method at an Existing ATM site:1 2 3 Detach the ambient light sensor window from the facia.
Insert the end of the tube into the light sensor window aperture. Using the silicone sealant, make sure that there are no gaps between the tubing and the external side of the ATM facia. Attach the end of the tube in the building to the relative pressure gauge connector, which will register a positive reading on the gauge when the external pressure is greater than the internal pressure.
Caution: Do not attach the gauge if it is suspected that the internal pressure is higher than the external pressure, unless a suitable centre zero gauge is being used. 5 Record the peak differential pressure reading.
