In the 21st century, people are coming to realise that the use of technology in classrooms is essential in enhancing teaching

and learning process. The examples of the technologies which being utilized are the use of computer software or animations, internet, interactive whiteboard, and Moodles which is the abbreviation for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. [Wikipedia]. However, peoples opinion towards technologies varies and how technology can help and hinder the learning and teaching process continues to be one of the most debated topic worldwide. The use of technology will provide an interactive and engaging atmosphere in the classroom which helps to enhance the teaching and learning activities. By utilizing an interactive whiteboards in a classroom for instance, enables the students to participate during the teaching and learning process which leads to more comprehensive learning. [1] This will also provide more opportunities for the students to present their ideas or work interestingly. On top of that, hands-on activity is undeniably one of the best teaching and learning methods known. However to carry out any activity, equipments or materials are required and this may cause obstacle when it involves high end equipments which mostly high cost. To overcome this, technology can be used as a tool for hands on activities, for example through computer animations students can carry out virtual experiment to replace the real equipments. Besides that, the subjects will also be made easier to learn and understand. The use of images, sounds and interactions enables the students to visualise the contents delivered to them therefore more effective learning condition can be achieved. The students are also exposed to variety of ways to experience the learning process hence ensure that all senses are engaged. This leads to a better memory strengthening as more information can be obtained or captured by the students. Through the use of websites, online quizzes or tests could be easily accessed and carried out by students. This enables more efficient assessment for the students as the computers feedback programme can give instant feedbacks or evaluations to the students. (For example in UiTM Perlis, as for the lab activities...........................................................) Besides that, students will also be motivated to continue learning as computer is not judgemental and patient in providing assessment for the students. Studies also show that learning based on computers instruction is less time consuming and students shows positive attitudes towards learning in computers based-class. [Wikipedia]

The use of power point to replace chalk and talk traditional teaching method contributes to a better time management in the class. Educators do no longer have to spend time writing on the board while all the contents of the teaching materials can be prepared earlier and presented as soon as the class begins. Besides that, to encourage pre-class revision among students, the teaching materials can be uploaded on corresponding websites before the lesson. Students can have early insights of the contents which are going to be delivere and this will facilitate a more comprehensive teaching and learning session. (gives example at uitm). In addition, distance-learning process can also be implemented as students can easily access necessary teaching materials using the technology provided by the learning institution i.e. via students portal. Despite of all the advantages of technology in education, there are arguments on how technology can hinder the teaching and learning process. Some students may be unclear how to use the media for their advantage, which results in information overload and many learners failed to distinguish which data is information and which data is knowledge. Therefore they end up printing out all the data available on the websites [5]. In addition, technical problems such as computer or LCD projector breakdown add to another possibility towards unsuccessful teaching and learning process. The use of internet in exchanging or downloading notes or learning materials can be unsafe due to possible spread of unwanted computer viruses and unhealthy contents. [5] This will contribute to computer processor to work slowly or breakdown hence, hinders the process of learning. Besides that, it is easily forgotten that, ideas without implementation is meaningless and this can be a form of barrier towards a successful teaching and learning session. Therefore, in order to have a better evaluation of the level of knowledge gained by the students, assessment which is carried out orally is undeniably important and a must. To fulfil this, students require good communication skills in order to present their ideas effectively. However, too much accepting knowledge through technologies will lead to one of the most obvious consequences, which is the possibility of the students to have lack of interpersonal skills and also poor communication skills among the educators and the students [1]. This may seem unimportant for some educators as long as the main aim of teaching is achieved which is to deliver teaching materials or contents of the lesson to the students. However need to remember that a successful teaching and learning process can only be achieved if the students can present and apply their knowledge effectively and one of the suitable assessments is via

oral assessment i.e. group or individual presentation on a topic given. Fail to meet this requirement can hinder a successful teaching and learning process. Even in millions of years, technology can never replace human touch. Education is a form of human activity, therefore requires as much as human interaction as possible for effective teaching and learning process. Communication via technology canot t promise
