Middle School Literacy/Language Support
• Established an identification system using multiple assessment measures
to identify students with extra literacy needs and subsequently developed
individual profiles on identified students to guide instruction. Individual
progress goal were set and communicated to students and parents
• Added classroom-based sheltered instructional in addition to small
group pull-out sessions to the student support program
• Coached and team taught with all content area teachers to model
instructional strategies that support reading and language growth
• Initiated a school-wide reading incentive program that guided students
and parents to choose appropriate adolescent literature at students’
independent reading levels.
• Co-chaired the WASC Committee for Student Personal and Academic
Support during the accreditation review process; headed the Language
Arts group that delivered vertical alignment to the curriculum
• Coordinated the Middle School KIAC Spelling Bee; presented at the
2007 KORCOS conference; member of the K-12 assessment review
