3 New and updated in this release

The new updates for the HP ESXi 5.0 customized image for October 201 include: 1 NIC, iSCSI, and FC/FCoE drivers to support hp-Emulex NICs, CNAs, and BL-series G7 BladeSystem server LOMs are included in this release, and these devices are supported with appropriate minimum device firmware. The drivers listed above enables hp VirtualConnect support (including Flex-10 and FlexFabric platforms) for hp-Emulex devices when using appropriate VirtualConnect firmware and device firmware. NOTE: The hp-Emulex device firmware, to support ESXi 5.0 hp-Emulex NIC/CNA/LOM device drivers, can be accessed following the steps listed below: 1. Go to the location: http://www.hp.com/. 2. Select the sub-menu Support & Drivers. 3. Select the Drivers & Software option. 4. Type in the product number, such as: NC553i, NC553m, and so on in the SEARCH field. The Download drivers and software webpage is displayed. 5. Under the Select operating system category, select Cross operating system (BIOS, Firmware, Diagnostics, etc) link. The new features introduced in ESXi 5.0 are as follows: Supports G5 through G7 upgrade. Provides BladeSystem, Virtual Connect, and FlexFabric support. VMware IOVP Certified Device Drivers added to HP ESXi 5.0 installation images for HP device enablement. Supports HPSIM, HP Insight Control for Virtual Center. SNMP Trap support via Providers. Insight Control HPSIM, WEBES and RDP support for HP customized images. Supports update of HP VIBs using VUM. Supports remote online reporting of installed FW versions (report generated via CIM provider data). Provides a HP-VMware Online Depot on the Web in support of image build customer update using VUM. Includes HPONCFG and HPBOOTCFG. (See HP VMware Utilities User Guide). Supports Intel Trusted Execution Tecnology (TXT).

4 Important notes and recommendations

HP-Qlogic devices require additional driver(s) HP-Qlogic devices NC523SFP require device drivers that are not supported in this release. HP-Management software for ESXi 5.0 does not support any HP-Brocade Fibre Channel HBA with this release.
