Amala Bharatam
The biggest threat that nature is facing today is pollution. Because of the waste
we discard, air, water, soil and food, among other things, have become toxic.
Many species have become extinct. We are singing a swan song to the Earth,
who grants us refuge and shelter like our own mother. We must awaken and
act. We cannot delay any longer. The earth today needs the loving and
compassionate services of each one of us. It should never be that the human
race has to disappear if life is to prevail on earth.
Earth is the manifest God who showers only blessings on humanity. It is
incumbent upon each one of us to conserve and protect earth and nature. We
should never forget this, just as we do not forget to eat and sleep. Freeing earth
from the grip of pollution is a question of our own survival. Efforts to do so
should become part of our daily lives.
Indiscriminately disposing of waste, spitting in public places and roadsides,
answering nature's call in public places - India is one of the countries where
problems such as these are most rampant. To ensure that the pristine face of
Bharat Mata, Mother India, is not marred by litter, to ensure that our country
does not reek of a foul stench, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi has conceived
of and initiated the 'Amala Bharatam' Campaign. We extend a heartfelt
invitation to everyone to take part in this grand yajna, this sacred ritual, to free
the earth of contaminants. We request you to help in whatever way you can for
the success of this endeavour.

Dispose off these in trash cans.
2. Do not spit or answer the call of nature in public
places.
3. Keep two handkerchiefs with you: one for general use,
and the other for unavoidable spitting. These
handkerchiefs can be washed and reused.
4. Minimize the use of plastic.
5. Support proper waste disposal, sorting of waste, and
general environmental protection.
