The World Food Safety Organisation (WFSO) released the first Definitive Food Safety Guide International Food Safety Guide in an attempt to document and standardizes generally accepted food Safety information and practices. The Guide is compiled with the assistance of an International panel of experts covering a wide aspect of the food industry. This Guide Book is available in electronic format and is continuously updated to provide the latest information and best practices for Food Safety Professionals in implementing and maintaining a Food Safety Management Systems. It cover the project implementation process involving implementing FSMS. It is intended as a guide and not as a standard. This Guide Book provides the best practices for Food Safety Professionals in implementing and maintaining a Food Safety Management Systems. It cover the project implementation process involving implementing FSMS. The International Food Safety Guide is internationally recognized as the Definitive Food Safety Guide that provides the fundamentals of project management as they apply to a wide range of projects, covering the full spectrum of the food industry. The Guide is process-based, meaning it describes work as being accomplished by processes. This approach is consistent with other management standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 22000 and EU directives. Inputs (documents, plans, designs, etc.) Tools and Techniques (mechanisms applied to inputs) Outputs (documents, products, etc.) The Guide recognizes 44 processes that fall into five basic process groups and nine knowledge areas that are typical of almost all projects.

The five process groups are: 1. Initiating, 2. Planning, 3. Executing, 4. Controlling and Monitoring 5. Supplying. Knowledge areas contain the processes that need to be accomplished within its discipline in order to achieve an effective management program. Each of these processes also falls into one of the five basic process groups, creating a matrix structure such that every process can be related to one knowledge area and one process group. A specialized guide is developed as an extension to the International Food Safety Guide to suit special industries eg; Production ,processing ,distribution etc .
