One of the main conflicts between Christianity and Islam, the reason that these religions are in dispute a lot, is because they differ in beliefs of who Jesus is. Muslims believes that Jesus was a messenger sent down by god; however Christians believe that Jesus is the son of god. Islam and Christianity have many conflicts due to this difference in their beliefs. The people who follow Christianity are called Christians, and people who follow Islam are called Muslims so dont get confused and mix those words up. Islams main language spoken is Arabic, and Islam is the Arabic word which, means to submit to god. Islam is the belief that there is one god and that god sent down many messengers including Muhammad, and Jesus. Christianity is the belief that Jesus is the son of god. Because of their religious differences these religions get into war a lot. According to www.mapsofwar.com Christianity started when Jesus died (0 AD) and the religion started spreading scattered around parts of Europe, Islam started in 570 AD with the birth of Muhammad and started spreading very fast in Africa, and in the middle of Europe. Then in 600 AD there were three Muslim conquests and Islam started spreading west, north, and east. Throughout time both religions spread through Europe and Africa. In 1096-1450 AD Islam and Christianity were at war in two different places. One of the battles was called the crusades, and the other was the reconquista. The crusades, and the reconquista took place in the 1400s, and it was when the Christians and the Muslims were fighting over land. The reconquista was a successful takeover of the land from the Muslims however. As this battle came to an end Islam spread to the middle of Europe where Christianity had

originally started, and Christianity circled around it but thanks to the reconquista they got part of this land back. As time passed by Islam grew, almost taking all of Europe, and Asia. But around 1900 AD Islam was reduced down back to Africa where it started and Christianity expanded all around the world as it took over every continent besides Islam. By the time 2000 AD came Christianity had overtaken all the continents besides the middle of Europe and the bottom of Asia where Islam was. Today, 33% of the world is made up of Christians, and 21% is made up of Islam, information from www.adherents.com. In my opinion it seems like Islam at first started to dominate a world, and then Christianity took over, so according to my research I think Islam will spread throughout the world. Also Islam today is the fastest spreading religion in the world. There are many churches and mosques all around the world, which are the religious places for each religion. There is a local mosque across the street from my neighborhood, right next to a church. I went to the mosque to ask some questions to the prayer leaders, or sheiks, which is like prayer leader in Arabic. Generally, his opinions are that Islam will dominate the world. I didnt go to the church though. The perspectives are very basic from my point of view and the point of view of the Muslim leaders Islam will take over the world. Although the perspective of a Christian, Islam will start to take over but fail and Christianity will succeed in their eyes.
