Zaidan : Hello, good morning, Mr. John Scoffield. Have a seat. Mr. John : Thank you. Zaidan : How are you today? Mr. John : I`m fine. Thank you again. Zaidan : Ok, I`ve got your application letter, but I need a few more details for the file. Tell me more about your academic background. Mr. John : Well, I did my Pre-U in Taylors College, and I scored 3 As in Maths, Physics and Thinking Skills. I got a B in Further Maths. Then I received a partial scholarship to go to Sheffield University, and obtained my Engineering Degree there. Zaidan : Right. What was your specialisation? Mr. John : Water Management. Zaidan : Alright. And what about your working experience then? Mr. John : In 2000, I graduated, and wanted to do something different before coming back to Malaysia. So, I looked for vacancies in foreign countries, and found an interesting option in China. Zaidan : Wow ! So what did you do there? Mr. John : It was a two years irrigation project with the Chinese Government, and since Sheffield had links with a Chinese engineering university, it was quite easy for me to get selected. After that, I decided to come home to Malaysia, and that`s why I`ve applied to your company! Zaidan : I see,thank you. What thing is here that are attracted you to applied our company? Mr. John : There are many reasons why I applied your company. One of them is I heard your company is the best engineering of company in Malaysia. So that, I wants to work with your company.

The short story I had chosen is The Sound Machine by Roald Dahl and what can I understand from that story is some human beings can hear sounds inaudible to others. The main character is Klausner, a small frail man with a large head working with his sound machine. Klausner is a very committed person. He works very hard on his sound machine until he has perfected it. His concentration is intense, his movements fast and there is an air of urgency about the way he works. He also patiently explains

step-by-step the theory of sound to Dr.Scott, Well, it`s like this. the theory is very simple really. The human ear you know that it can`t hear everything I made a simple instrument that proved to me the existence of many odd inaudible sounds. He is not perturbed at the doctor`s skepticism. He carries on working. When he hears the throatless, inhuman shriek of the rose that is cut, he tries to explain to his neighbour Mrs.Saunders that the rose is alive and can feel pain. He compares someone cutting a rose stem in two to someone cutting a person`s wrist off with a pair of garden shears. When she looks at him in disbelief and runs into the house, he is not disturbed. He calmly repeats the experiment with a daisy which he pulls upwards and sideways until the stem breaks. Such is his commitment to his work. Not satisfied with just working with flowers, he proceeds to trying it on a large tree and when it tests positive on the sound machine, he wants to share it with Dr.Scott. Unfortunately, the machine is destroyed by falling branch and he is unable to prove his theory of sound.

Summary.
Based on short story I had chosen that is The Sound Machine by Roald Dahl what can I understand is that story is a bizarre story which explores the possibility that some human beings can hear sounds inaudible to others. There are three characters in the story. Klausner is the main character and he tries to explain his theory of sound to Dr.Scott and Mrs.Saunders, his neighbour, without much success. They are both convinced that Klausner is quite mad. Klausner is a small frail man with a large head. He also have smooth and pale face and pale grey eyes. He is vey patient person. He
