My Story I am a tree. When I came to earth at that time it was full carbon dioxide and other harmful gases.

I came and I started soaking up nutrients from rocks. When minerals became less in rocks it exposed ca and mg to weathering which reacted with carbonate ions and formed lime sediments. I did photosynthesis and fixed carbon dioxide in my body and cleaned air for the survival of humans and other animals. I produced, for the first time, large amounts of lignin - the major constituent of wood which was Resistant to decay, this substance led to increased amounts of organic carbon being buried with sediments As atmospheric carbon dioxide was progressively reduced and photosynthesis reached great levels, the atmosphere became extremely rich in oxygen much richer than the air you know today. I did so much to support life but Humans instead of acknowledging the debt they owe to me they just depleted my forest cover from earth. Forest loss between 2000 and 2005 was estimated to be 1,011,000 square kilometers. This degraded the atmosphere and led to the extinction of many species from earth. They are now creating an environment which is poisonous for them as well. Best time to plant me was twenty years back and second best time is now. I hope they will understand it soon and take some good steps to save me and earth which is their home as well, before it becomes too late. God cared for me, saved me from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save me from fools. Look what I do for these humans and what they do to me

The net cooling effect of a young, healthy tree is equivalent to ten room-size air conditioners operating 20 hours a day. -U.S. Department of Agriculture Trees can boost the market value of your home by an average of 6 or 7 percent. -Dr. Lowell Ponte Landscaping, especially with trees, can increase property values as much as 20 percent. -Management Information Services/ICMA One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen in a seson -U.S. Department of Agriculture Trees properly placed around buildings can reduce air conditioning needs by 30 percent and can save 20 - 50 percent in energy used for heating. USDA Forest Service Shade from trees could save up to $175 per year (per structure) in air conditioning costs. -Dr. Lowell Ponte Healthy, mature trees add an average of 10 percent to a property's value. USDA Forest Service The planting of trees means improved water quality, resulting in less runoff and erosion. This allows more recharging of the ground water supply. Wooded areas help prevent the transport of sediment and chemicals into streams. -USDA Forest Service

It is never too late to amend. let s make a promise with each other that I will continue to do all these good things that I am doing and in return you will also fight for me and never allow any body to harm me.

This enhanced the weathering of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) silicate minerals, which in turn removed carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as Ca and Mg became locked together with carbonate ions in lime-rich sediments in the worlds oceans. The removal of CO2 from the atmosphere by this method and by increased photosynthesis (fixation) led to atmospheric CO2 stabilising The total at lower levels than the world had known for most of its previous 4200Ma history

Trees are the largest and longest living organisms on earth. To grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above. By means of photosynthesis the leaves combine the water and salts with carbon dioxide from the air to produce the nutrients which feed the tree. In this process, as well as wood, trees create many chemicals, seeds and fruit of great utility to man. Trees also remove carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, from the air. Trees are of continued importance to the environment. Tropical rain forests have of particular significance; although they now occupy less than 6 per cent of the land surface of the earth they probable sustain more than half of the biological species on the planet.

Notwithstanding the debt we owe to trees, their emotive power, and their importance to other forms of life, the forested area of the earth is steadily being depleted. This is leading to the degradation of the environment and the extinction of many species. There is now a real danger that in the not very distant future man will destroy a large proportion of the present population of species on earth, create an uninhabitable environment, and then die out himself. If this happens it will not be the first time that a large proportion of the species on the earth have been extinguished

The relationship today between man and the trees that created the environment that allowed man to develop is really sacred, if that is the right word. To see mankind now decimating today's rain forests is tragic.
