Library Rules & Regulations

A. Use of the Library is conditional on observance of the Rules and Regulations. Users must comply with the rules issued by Director/Librarian. Anyone failing to do so may be barred from the Library and/or incur a fine. The Librarian the right to refer any braches of the Rules and Regulations and/or improper behavior towards library staff to the Director for consideration within the terms of the appropriate disciplinary procedures. B. Library Card will be issued on production of the fee/Deposit receipt. The Card is valid for the entire course period. No books shall be issued during vacation period. A student can however refer the same in the Library itself. C. Access to the Library is restricted to students of LICA who are in possession of a valid Identification Card issued by the authorities of the Institute and to others if authorized by the Director/Librarian. D. Students will be issued total two Library books. The same will be required for using the Library facility. E. Overnight issue can be done on Identity Card and on Saturday evenings only. This facility is for borrowing only one reference books (except dictionaries and encyclopedias) journal (back issue)/ magazine at a time. The resource issued on Overnight Basis has to be returned to the library the on Monday by 10.30 a.m. Failure to do so shall attract a penalty of Rs.10/- per day. If any resource issued under Overnight Basis material is lost, the student will have to replace the copy to the Library and will be required to pay a processing fees of Rs.200/- Failure to replace the relevant material would result in withdrawal of Library facilities permanently.

F. If a student fails to return the books within the stipulated period a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged. The date of return is stamped on the date slip of the book. The book should be returned on or before due date. No reminder will be sent to the students for overdue items. G. Books will be re-issued only two times, provided the same is not in demand. In case the book is in demand, the student who has borrowed the book will have to return the same and fill a demand slip to get the book again. The book will then be issued in the order of reservation. The book will be issued only on the card of the student who has reserved the same. Renewal shall be done only when the book is presented physically. H.A reserved item is subject to recall once it has been on loan for seven days i.e. it will not be re-issued to the current reader. I. Students are required to use Demand Slips for reserving books. The Demand Slips are available at the Library counter. J. Students are required to carry their Library Card and must produce this when borrowing book / journals / magazines by an authorized person. Student must be present while borrowing library resources on his / her card. K. Materials issued on Library Card will not be taken back on the same day. L. If any books is lost / damaged in any way by the student, will have to replace the same with a new copy or pay the current market price. The student will also have to pay an additional amount of Rs.200/- towards Processing Fee. M.Borrowing rights shall be withdrawn if any dues are outstanding.

N.Students are not allowed to sit in the Library when lectures are on. This will invite penalty and exclusion from the Library. O. Books are mankinds best friends. Do not de-face them. If any student is guilty of defacing the book he / she will have to replace the same with a new copy or pay the current market price. The student will also have to pay an additional amount of Rs.200/- towards Processing Fee. Any student, who loses a Library Card, shall be issued a new card only after the second card is surrendered along with Rs.100/- as charges for issue of duplicate library cards. A duplicate card shall be issued only after the process mentioned above is complied with. 1. Mobile Phones must be switched off while entering the Library. Students should not put them on silent mode. Any student caught using the mobile in the library will be changed a fine Rs. 100/-. In the event of repeated defaults, the mobile will be confiscated. 2. Use of all types of electronic gadgets is prohibited in the library, excluding calculator/laptops. The student should ensure that all types of sounds of these gadgets are switched off before using them. 3. Bags are not allowed in the library. The same should be kept in the specially provided Baggage Rack outside the Library at their own risk. Students are required to carry their bags and other possessions with them as soon as they leave the Library. The staff will not be responsible in case of damage to or theft of personal property. 4. Silence must be maintained in the Library premises. 5. No food items are allowed in the Library.

Discussions are not allowed in the Reading Room. Students are advised to use the Tutorial Room for the same.
