Enterprise software development using the REA model

Adrian Alexandrescu
Ovidius University of Constanta Mathematics and Informatics Department E-mail: adi alex cta@yahoo.com

Abstract: The REA (Resources-Events-Agents) model describes the economic processes, using a set of concepts: economic resource, economic agent, economic event, commitment, contract, etc. REA was originally proposed as a generalized accounting model, by William E. McCarthy of Michigan State University, in 1982. Since then, the original REA model has been extended by McCarthy and Guido Geerts to a framework for business systems. REA became the foundation for several interchange standards. The paper proposes a development process for the enterprise software, using the concepts of the REA model. Alexandru Mihai Bica
University of Oradea Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Universitatii Street No.1, 410087 Oradea, Romania E-mail: abica@uoradea.ro, smbica@yahoo.com

Abstract: A numerical method based on succesive approximations, quadrature rule and piecewise linear interpolation, for nonlinear Hammerstein integral equations with variable modication of the argument is obtained. The convergence and the stability of the method is proved by the apriori error estimation obtained in the case of Lipschitzian functions without smoothness conditions. A practical stopping criterion of the algorithm and a numerical example illustrating the method are given. Keywords and phrases : nonlinear Hammerstein integral equations with modied argument, successive approximations, quadrature rule, piecewise linear interpolation. 2000 AMS Mathematics Subject Classication : 34K28. We investigate the nonlinear Hammerstein integral equation of second type, with modied argument,
b

x (t) = g (t) +
a

H(t, s) f (s, x (s) , x ( (s)))ds

(1)

where g, : [a, b] R are given and have the properties: g, C[a, b], ([a, b]) [a, b]. Supposing that H C ([a, b] [a, b]) , f C([a, b] R R), M > 0 is such that |f (s, u, v)| M, 9

for all s [a, b], u, v R and g, , H, f are Lipschitzian in each argument, we construct a convergent numerical method and a corresponding algorithm to approximate the solution of (1). The method combines successive approximations, trapezoidal quadrature rule and iterated piecewise linear interpolation. The interpolation procedure appears only on the points where the argument is modied.

Low Degree Toom-Cook Multiplication in Characteristic Three

Marco Bodrato
Centro Interdipartimentle Vito Volterra Universit` di Roma Tor Vergata a Via Columbia 2 00133 Rome, Italy E-mail: bodrato@mail.dm.unipi.it

Abstract: The use of Toom-Cook sub-quadratic polynomial multiplication was recently shown to be possible also when the coecient eld does not have elements enough, particularly for F2 [x]. This paper focus on how Tooms strategies can be adapted to polynomials on ternary elds. In particular we describe the Toom-3 algorithm for F3 [x] some other unbalanced algorithms. Algorithms are described with full details, not only the asymptotic complexity is given, but the exact sequence of operations for possibly optimal implementations. Algorithms given here for F3 [x] perfectly works, as well, for F3n [x], and may be useful for computations inside F3n for large enough n. Convergence of the proximal point algorithm for variational inequalities with regular mappings
Corina L. Chiriac
BIOTERRA University, Bucharest Romania E-mail: corinalchiriac@yahoo.com

Abstract: In this paper we consider a general version of the proximal point algorithm for solving the variational inequality: nd c C such that there exists y T (x) with x u, y 0, u C (1) where T : X 2X is a set-valued mapping from a Banach space X with its dual X , and C X a closed, convex subset. First, choose any sequence of functions fn : X X are Lipschitz continuous. Then take an initial element x0 C D(T ); given x , dene xn+1 by the inclusion 0 (T + NC + fn )(xn+1 ) fn (xn ), (2)

where NC () is the normality operator associated to C. We prove that if the Lipschitz constants of fn are bounded by half the reciprocal of the modulus of regularity of T , then there exits a neighborhood V of x (x being a solution to (1)) such that for each initial point x0 V one can nd a sequence xn generated by the algorithm (2) which is linearly convergent to x. Convergence results are studied for the cases when the mapping T is strongly subregular and strongly regular. 12

Solving a Cauchy problem with MATHEMATICA

Mircea Drgan, Simona Drgan, Sorin Murean a a s
University of Oradea Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Universitatii Street No.1, 410087 Oradea, Romania E-mail: smuresan@uoradea.ro

Abstract: In this paper we want to give a renement of some classical result on numerical approximation for the solution of a Cauchy problem. So, we consider the problem x (t) = f (t, x (t)) , t [t0 , T ] x (t0 ) = x0 . (1)

Its known that x (t) is solution of (1) i x (t) is xed point of the Volterra integral operator
t

V : C [t0 , T ] C [t0 , T ] , V (x (t)) = x0 +

t0

f (s, x (s)) ds

and, from this, we obtain that x (t) is also the zero for the operator
t

S : C [t0 , T ] C [t0 , T ] , S (x (t)) = x (t) x0

t0

f (s, x (s)) ds.

(2)

Just like in the classical numerical results we consider the knots: t0 < t1 < ... < tN = T not necesarily having the same distance between them. Hence we will approximate x (t) by the function x (t) which have x (ti ) = x (ti ) xi , for all i = 0, N . Using (2) we nd the implicit recurrence relation
ti+1

xi+1 = xi +
ti

f (s, x (s)) ds.

We want to give an explicit recurrence relation which contains the partial derivative of f and which can be implemented with MATHEMATICA. Keywords: Cauchy problem, Volterra integral operator, dierentiability 2000AMS Classication: 65L05

Hillam algorithm to locate xed points

Raluca Efrem
University of Craiova Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics Str. A.I. Cuza, No.13, 400575, Craiova, Romania E-mail: ra efrem@yahoo.com

Abstract: Dynamical systems allow to model various phenomena or processes by only describing their way of evolution. It is an important matter to study the global and the limit behavior of such systems. A possible description of this limit behavior is via the limit sets. The rst step in analyzing a dynamical system is to determine the location and the stability type of the limit sets. The most common method is the manual search for limit sets. When a researcher looks for new behavior in a system, he typically use a simulation program that display trajectories or orbits. He change the parameters or the initial condition, and he lets the system run until it reach the steady state. When the approximate location of an interesting limit set has been found, he applies more sophisticated methods to calculate its precise position. The most practical and simplest method in locating a limit set is to apply numerical algorithms. The main advantages of this approach are the rapid rate of convergence and the ability to locate stable, nonstable and unstable limit sets. In this paper we will present an algorithm that help us to locate xed points, we build his Maple code, and implement him on an example. Keywords: dynamical system, xed point, numerical algorithm AMS Subject Classication: 37N30, 37M05

Abstract: If G is a left R - module and , are an antiendomorphism, respectively an endomorphism of the unitary ring R which satises the identity (a) (b) = (b) (a) , we can construct on the direct product R G (of the additive groups R and G) a ring structure by setting the multiplication (a, x) (b, y) = (ab, (b) x + (a) y) . This ring is denoted by R G and is called the generalized semidirect product (with respect to and ) of R and G. In this paper, we give a family of pseudo-norms of the ring R G, (in the case that R and G are a pseudo-normed ring, respectively group) which extends the pseudo-norms of R and G.

The variational method of Schier-Goluzin in an extremal problem from the class of the univalent functions
Miodrag Iovanov
Constantin Brncui University of Trgu-Jiu a s a E-mail: miovanov@utgjiu.ro, iovanovm@yahoo.com

Abstract: Let S be the class of functions f (z) = z + a2 z 2 + , f (0) = 0 , f (0) = 1 which are regular and univalent in the unit disk |z| < 1. For 0 x a < 1 we consider the equation Re[(x a)f (x)] = 0 f S. Denote (x) = Re[(x a)f (x)]. Because (0) = 0 and (a) = 0 it follows that there is x0 (0, a) so that: (x0 ) = 0. The aim of this paper is to nd max{x| (x) = 0}. If x is max{x| (x) = 0} , then for x > x the equation (x) = 0 does not have real roots. Since S is a compact class, there exists. This problem was rst proposed by Petru T. Mocanu in [2]. We will determine by using the variational method of Schier-Goluzin [1]. Keywords: regular function, variational method, extremal function.

Abstract: The notion of dierential superordination was introduced in [3] by S.S. Miller and P.T. Mocanu as a dual concept of dierential subordination [2]. The notion of strong dierential subordination was introduced by J.A. Antonino, S. Romaguera in [1]. This notion was developed in [4]. In paper [5] the author introduced the dual concept of strong dierential superordinations. The aim of this paper is to obtain the best subordinants of the strong dierential superordinations.

Abstract: A wind turbine with vertical axis, whose identical shape blades are radially arranged around a xed rotation axis, is considered. Our purpose is to point out some remarks (together with practical work suggestions) about such turbines and on a mathematical approach of the uid ow induced by this turbine. An algorithm for assesement of the current rototranslation parameters in the case of the double rotating blades is envisaged. Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to study the behavior of positive solutions of the following important nonlinear dierence equation:
k

un = 1 +

i=1 m j=1

i unpi , n N0 j unqj
k i=1

where i , i = 1, k and j , j = 1, m are positive numbers such that

m j=1

i =

j = 1 and pi , i = 1, k and qj , j = 1, m are natural numbers such that p1 <

p2 < ... < pk and q1 < q2 < ... < qm . The case when gcd(p1 , ..., pk , q1 , ..., qm ) = 1 is the most important. For this case we prove that if all pi , i = 1, k are even and all qj , j = 1, m are odd, then every positive solution of this equation converges to a periodic solution of period 2, otherwise, every positive solution of the equation converges to a unique positive equilibrium. Abstract: The aim of this paper is to construct the stochastic calculus of variations for general zero mean processes with independent increments and, in particular for general Levy processes without drift. The calculus based on the operators D and , is such that for the Gaussian processes they coincide with the Malliavin derivative and Skorohod integral, respectively. We introduce the family of polynomials which contains the Sheer set of polynomials. By using these polynomials it is proved the chaos decomposition theorem of L2 (). The denition of Malliavin derivative and Skorohod integral for a certain class of stochastic processes is given and it is shown that they are equal. Abstract: In the non-life insurance business, an actuary faces the problem of determining the distribution function of a sum of random variables which are not necessarily independent, like aggregate claims of an insurance portfolio. The paper points out some applications of approximating such sums when the individual distribution functions of the terms are known, but their dependence unknown, for the computation of the stop-loss premiums and estimates of the ruin probability. Abstract: The ruin probability of an insurance company is one of the main issues in actuarial mathematics. In the classical Poisson model of the risk theory there exist analytic expressions for the ruin probability, but in other risk models, there are not. For this, researchers try to nd upper and lower bounds, and better approximations. In this paper, we discuss some risks models and methods of estimating the ruin probability: Tijms, Willmot, Grandell, Renyi, and the diusion approximation. The latter can be obtained approximating the risk process by a Brownian motion with drift. We present a model with size uctuations where the possibility of an increase of the business is taken into account. Keywords: ruin probability, phase-type, risk process, diusion approximation, Brownian motion. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classication: 91B30, 62P05, 68W25.
