Masonic Lodge to host Bike Ride; Requests help from local communities
Press Release: Masonic Lodge

The Center Point Masonic Lodge is in need of your help. There are men and women Heroes out there in our community who have served this country with pride in some of the most horrifying and deplorable conditions only to return home to a condition just as bad. The government that they fought so bravely for has turned its back on them when they needed it

the most. Many of these Heroes suffering from combat related PTSD have returned to find no jobs and no help from the VA or Washington and are now fighting nightly to survive on the streets. No Veteran should be forced to live under an overpass or huddle around a steam grate to keep warm or go without a meal. That is why we are teaming with Three Hots and a Cot a local Veterans group here in Clay

to provide homes for Vets. J.D. Simpson returned home from the Navy and discovered this terrible situation the vets are in and decided to do something about it and he started the Three Hots and a Cot program that provides a home and three square meals a day to our Heroes. The Veterans Administration requires a permanent home address for a Veteran to receive benefits or medical care their sacrifices have

earned them. Three Hots and a Cot provides that home for over twenty-five local homeless Veterans from WWII to our current wars every night allowing them to get the care they need. The Center Point Masonic Lodge is helping provide additional homes for these Vets so that Three Hots and a Cot can bring more Heroes off the street. These men and women are not looking for a hand out just a hand

up. Residents are required to be clean of alcohol and drug free. They are required to work many have full time jobs, some are working in house and taking full advantage of the counseling programs offered here. The Centerpoint Lodge, local area businesses, Veterans Groups and Motor Clubs are sponsoring a motorcycle ride open to the public from Heart of Dixie Harley Davidson in Pelham to the National Cemetery

in Montevallo on March 24th to raise funds to renovate a donated home in the Avondale area that will provide a new start to at least six of our local Heroes. We would love to see our community rally around these men and women and support them as they have supported us. For more information please contact the Center Point Masonic Lodge at centerpointlogde872. org or Heath Fant at 205-249-3982.

WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING IN 2012?

By Dr. Bob Wilkerson

An account is given in Matthew of Jesus visiting His hometown. It was one of the most disappointing visits of His life. Matthew records, And He did not many miracles there because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:58). It wasnt that He didnt see a need. It wasnt that He didnt want to. He was limited

by the peoples unbelief and lack of expectation. They expected little from Him and little is exactly what they received. Most of the time, we receive from life what we expect. A famous university professor quizzed his class one morning asking, Young ladies and gentlemen, what do you expect of the future? Which one of you will

write the great novel? Who among you will make a great breakthrough in the cure of cancer? Which one of you will serve in congress or even become the president? Which one of you will become a leader in business and industry? They sat there in awkward silence. After a while, the professor said, I assure you of this---if you dont expect it

you wont achieve it. The word expect is a faith word. It is equivalent to the word believe. In most instances, if we dont expect it, and dont believe it, we cant receive it. Jesus once said to a centurion in a faith matter, It will be done just as you believed it would (Matthew 8:13). This past year has been a hard one for

many of us, but now we are in a new year. We need to ask ourselves what do we expect the new year holds for us? Will things be better, worse, or the same? Personally, Im expecting things to get better. What are you expecting?

Some of you may not know, but January 10-13 in Las Vegas the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is going on, where all the tech companies are revealing their new products and features. Next week, Ill let you know what the big announcements are. But this week, after Day 1, I want to share with you something youve only seen in the movies. It just so happens that Tom Cruise has had a few of the movies with technology that is manipulated with gestures and by touch. Kind of like combining a touch screen computer with Kinect on XBox 360. While this is a little further down the road from where we are, it seems we are working toward it. Augmented Reality (AR) isnt anything new. Its been around for a few years. But most people I know havent experienced it beyond an old video arcade game that used your image. The game would show you in your living room, and you would have

to move your arms and legs to interact with the game. Now, AR is on your smart phones and portable gaming consoles like the Nintendo DSi. In Vegas on Day 1 of CES 2012, electronics company Pioneer introduced an AR Heads-UpDisplay for your car that will be introduced in Japan this year. Augmented reality is essentially the act of overlaying, and to some extent, virtually integrating, one reality on top of your current one. It could be cartoons, information about the nearest Starbucks, or, in the case of Pioneers AR display, information about the road ahead. Pioneer unveiled a prototype of the AR Display last year, but it was too large and bulky to put in a car. The 2012 edition is far smaller, sleeker, more polished and fits right where youd normally see your rear-view mirror (its not clear how it would live alongside that still-necessary mirror). The laser display connects via Bluetooth to a special app on your smartphone. AR Head Up Display can show

directions, upcoming points of interest, details about road hazards essentially, whatever Pioneer programs into the app. The images are projected on a see-through display so they sit on top of your road, but do not obscure your driving vision. Eventually, I see this being projected onto the windshield itself. And it will have an interface like the newest Mission Impossible movie. This is a neat concept. Right now, all I see is another distraction for drivers. You can see it in use at a Japanese electronics show here: http://youtu.be/QInEsw-25Qg

Former Clay-Chalkville defensive lineman Quinton Dial completed his junior season with a victory over LSU as Alabama won their 14th national title in school history. Although Dial did not register an official tackle in the BCS title game, he applied pressure numerous times to Bengal Tiger quarterback Jordon Jefferson. For the season, Dial recorded 10 solo tackles and assisted on 14 stops, including one sack. He is expected to be a starter in 2012. The CCHS girls basketball squad defeated HewittTrussville 55-36 to improve to 15-5 on the season. Kristian

Hudson, Bria Bethea and Larian Scott combined for 40 points for the Lady Cougars. Cahaba Spring improved to 4-0 on the season in the Trussville Futsal (indoor soccer) League. CSSC may have lost Jeff Murray for the reminder of the season due to a hyper-extended knee injury. CSSC has only six players on the roster and may have to add another player in order to have at least one substitute. CSSC is now accepting registration online for the spring 2012 season. You may log onto cahabasoccerclub.com and sign up. Recreational games will begin in mid-March.

The rumor mill had it correct, when, last week, the mill churned out that Aric Almirola was the leading candidate to replace A.J. Allmendinger in the Richard Petty Motorsports number 43. Turns out, it was only a matter of making it official, and that happened over the course of the end of last week and into the weekend. Almirola has some limited
