Pray through Gods Story (Week 3)

Focus on God
God is sovereign over the evil deeds of men. And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve lifeAnd God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So it was not you who sent me here, but God. (Genesis 45:5-8) God is our shepherd and redeemer. And [Jacob] blessed Joseph and said, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day, the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. (Genesis 48:15, 16)

Respond from the Heart

Pray that God will give us a repentant and a forgiving heart. So [Josephs brothers] sent a message to Joseph, saying, Your father gave this command before he died, Say to Joseph, Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you. And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father. Joseph wept when they spoke to him. (Genesis 50:16, 17) Pray for Gods grace in times of temptations. And after a time his masters wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Lie with me. But he refused and said to his masters wife, Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my chargeHow then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God? And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her. (Genesis 39:7-10)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray that we become channel of blessings to the rich and the influential in society. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his handsthe Lord blessed the Egyptians house for Josephs sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field. (Genesis 39:2-5) Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father and stood him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed PharaohAnd Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from the presence of Pharaoh. (Genesis 47:7-10)

Present Your Requests

Pray for Gods presence in our day to day activities. Pray that whatever we did, the Lord will make it succeed. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it. The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Josephs charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed. (Genesis 39:21-23)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for Jesus Christ, the Lion of Judah. (Jacobs blessing to Judah) Judah is a lion's cub; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down; he crouched as a lion and as a lioness; who dares rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. (Genesis 49:9-10) Thank God for turning bad things in our life into something good for us and for others. (Joseph to his brothers) As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones. (Genesis 50:20, 21)
