BEST PRACTICES in FUND RAISING for NGOs

Objective
The primary objective of the event is to provide NGOs with insights into different aspects of fund raising and highlight new tools and platforms that can be effectively employed by them. Net Impact Mumbai aspires to help NGOs structure their fund raising efforts so that they can successfully execute their long term strategy.

11:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Lunch -- 12:30 AM - 1:30 PM) 1. Fund raising avenues for NGOs Speaker: Tarika Vaswani Tarika leads the fund raising initiatives at GiveIndia and has worked with many NGOs in helping them identify avenues fund raising. She also helps NGOs in crystallizing their mission, their strategy and aligning their fund raising programs with their long term vision.

2. Leveraging internet and social media


Speaker: Shruti Nair Shruti owns an agency called Social Seety that has run over 30 campaigns for various organizations/individuals to help them leverage digital media. She has also worked with NGOs to enable them to use internet technology to raise awareness about themselves and connect with their communities. 3. Developing a business plan Speaker: Rema Subramanian Rema has three decades of experience in building and scaling operations across various sectors like financial services, education, IT, packaging, etc. in India. He has headed several companies across various sectors growing many from scratch to large scale businesses. He is passionate about the social sector and has worked extensively advising and mentoring social entrepreneurs. His key strength is strategic thinking with hands on implementation.

Presentation duration for each speaker: 30 - 45 minutes Q&A for each speaker: 15 mins Each of the speakers will attempt to provide actionable/pragmatic solutions to NGOs on how best to leverage different avenues for fund raising. The case method of presentation/study is a proven medium of learning and it is hoped that this will facilitate maximum interaction and ideation. Attending NGOs will benefit hugely from the wealth of knowledge of the speakers and can network one-on-one with them after each of the sessions.

The NGO Challenge


4:00 PM 5:00 PM Participating NGO: Masoom (tentative) An NGO will be invited to share its story, the challenges its facing and its perspectives on the role that different stakeholders can play in connecting with the NGOs. The experts will then provide possible solutions to these challenges with emphasis on pragmatism and feasibility. The discussion will hopefully end with concrete answers to the problems being faced by the NGO.
