Ensure that patient is well hydrated Administer antacids at least 2 hr before or after dosing Monitor clinical response; if no improvement is seen or a relapse occurs, repeat culture and sensitivity tests Instruct client to take drug on an empty stomach, 1 hr before or 2 hrs after meals. If an antacid is needed, do not take it within 2 hrs of ofloxacin dose Use eye or ear drops as instructed; keep tip away from surfaces; wash hands before administering Drink plenty of foods Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight Inform patient that he may experience side effects like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain (eat frequent small meals); diarrhea or constipation; drowsiness blurring of vision, dizziness Instruct to report rash, visual changes, severe GI problems, weakness, tremors
