On Thursday January 12th at 850 62nd Street Brooklyn, NY the Painters Union sent several busloads of Painters from

New Jersey to a meeting for Angelo Bisceglie with 20 or so Dockbuilders. Most of the Painters had no idea why they were there. Several Painters stated my business rep said I had to come here. Upon being discharged from the bus, the Painters were ordered to stand on the street and hold Dockbuilder banners.

This was a weak attempt by the Painters Union and Angelo Bisceglie to conceal the true lack of support for their scheme to divide our membership and sabotage our collective bargaining agreements.

IUPAT (International Union of Painters & Allied Trades) have stated that they are willing to spend over $1,000,000.00 in cash at the behest of Angelo Bisceglie to fund the destruction of the NYC & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters. IUPAT (International Union of Painters & Allied Trades) and Angelo Bisceglie acting in concert with the wishes of real estate developers in NYC to drive wages and benefits for Dockbuilders and all carpenters downward. IUPAT (International Union of Painters & Allied Trades) has capitalized on the dissolution of 1456 by misleading Dockbuilders into an ill-advised division of their rank and file members during contract negotiations. The Amalgamated Dockbuilders Organizing Committee has weakened the bargaining position of all Dockbuilders with the General Contractors Association by dividing their membership and introducing 30% wage and benefit reductions as an alternative to the NYC & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters. Dockbuilders who decide to vote for IUPAT (International Union of Painters & Allied Trades) Amalgamated Union will not have a contract.
