Part 1 of the Book of Isaiah Isaiah's teachings in this part can teach us something about the parent-less children. Isaiah proclaimed that having faith in God is the only way for the Israelites to survive. This means that children who have family problems should have faith in God because God is our Father and He will take care of His children. The parents who are away and those who mistreat their children should learn to love their children. Isaiah called us to be holy and being holy means being a loving person. The self-esteem of the kids would be better if the parents show their children that they love and care for them. As long as the children keep their faith in God and the parents do their best, God will help the children endure all their ordeals and help them become better citizens in their future. Contributed by Raphael Go Part 2 of the Book of Isaiah In the second part of the Book of Isaiah, Isaiah wrote a message of consolation, encouragement, and hope to the Israelites. This may have symbols that will relate about what happened to the life of Isaiah and family-related problems. Isaiah could symbolize us, and the Israelites would be the people affected by OFW problems, lack of parental supervision, teenage rebellion, and other family-related problems. We should help them with their problems. We should encourage them to fight their problems instead of being depressed. We should give them a message of hope so that they will be joyful again and spread the message of hope to everyone. Contributed by Alec Bukuhan Book of Ezekiel Ezekiel was a priest and he was part of the first batch of Jewish captives brought to Babylon. Ezekiel had a vision, where there was a scroll with writing full of lamentations. He ate the scroll, which meant that he answered God s call. In his preachings he spoke mostly of visions, mystical experiences, which is very difficult to be understand, and he usually acted out his prophecies. His mission was to strengthen the hope of the Israelites in exile because the Israelites were starting to lose faith in God. This can be related to the social issue of OFW, Absentee Parents, and Abandonment etc. because some kids will lose hope because their parents left them but through Ezekiel s teachings they will realize that they should put their trust in God and they will be delivered. Book of Hosea In the book of Hosea, the prophet Hosea was called to God and was to be married to a harlot named Gomer. As much as Hosea tried to keep his wife faithful to him, she just becomes distant. In this relationship, we see the Israelites, who also did the same thing. As God loved the Israelites, the Israelites worshipped false gods and idols. Even though this is true, God forever loves them. Here, we can solve the solution of rebellious children, as if they were Gomer. The parents could show their children how much they actually care and love their children, even if they have become so rebellious. They should love their children and support them like how God loved the Israelites. Contributed by Miko Gonzalez Book of Jeremiah In the book of Jeremiah, the prophet Jeremiah had envisioned the destruction of Israel and warned the Israelites but they didn t believe him and treated him wrongly. Despite this, He still did the best he could do to serve the Lord, our God. Today, many parents experience what Jeremiah had gone through by working in another country. These OFWs usually have a hard time due to them being separated with their family. But all of these things that they offer are to serve the Lord through giving up their old life for the future of their children out love for them no matter how many the problems they face. Contributed by Enrique Jose Macaranas Book of Amos Amos was a shepherd from Tekoa in Judah who lived during the Reign of Jeboam II. God called Amos to be his prophet many years after the fall of Solomon's kingdom. Amos pointed out the sins of the people and left no deaf ear. He would shout angrily at dishonest businessmen, money-lenders who charge with very high interest on loans, and at the wealthy people who would give empty sacrifices with their "ill-gotten riches. He reminded the people of Israel the being just is also part of having faith in God. Like Amos, we should not leave deaf ears and let unjust acts go without notice. These days, a lot of families abandon their children and mistreat them. We should not let these people do this for everyone is equal, and no man is worth more than another's.
