==== ===== Learn about Evil In Everyday Life At: http://www.whatisevil.org/ ==== ===== How can "evil" be dened when so many people have a different perspective about what this word or idea means? Most dictionaries use adjectives such as "bad", "immoral", "wicked" and "harmful" to describe evil. Religions such as Islam, Judaism and Christianity express this term when people perform actions or think thoughts that are contrary to what they perceive to be God's, commandments and expectations. Western Societies Many people within western societies have a different worldview than people who reside in the Middle and Far East. A great deal of Middle Eastern people see America as the "Great Satan" while many Americans view various groups within the Middle East as evil incarnate. In situations such as these, How is it possible for either side to claim the other as evil, then be right in the eyes of a loving God? Unfortunately there is no established standard or guide to dene evil only the perception of each individual with their own perception of evil. A Standard or Guide Without having a xed standard or some kind of guide for what is considered good or evil the only way anyone can dene evil is through their own experiences and ideas of what they consider to be right and wrong. Hedonists are good at dening life on their own terms to justify some of their behaviors. Some religious sects justify killing and the conquering of other people for religious reasons to please or justify their gods commands and expectations. This is done to avenge a perceived injustice toward their God and themselves. It is shameful that we all do evil things in the name of God to promote our own agenda. Government Laws Societies create laws and norms and expect people to obey them. These laws and norms establish cohesion within a society because without them there would be chaos. Some people think that it's okay to kill people when they are made angry enough. Some people think it's acceptable to rape people mentally and physically and get away with such horric behavior.

Without laws regulating human behavior there would be greater amount of instances of people robbing each other, killing each other, raping each other, committing fraud and violently assaulting each other. This is why jails have been created and why we have law enforcement ofcers to enforce the laws within cities, counties, states and governments. A Need For Regulation People within a society need a set of rules that are established outside of themselves, without these rules a society would break down then revert to some form of crude governance. Third world countries and their prison systems are proof of this reality. Human nature desires certain things that bring satisfaction and fulll certain needs. Regardless of being right or wrong human nature will do what ever is necessary to satisfy these desires of these needs. Only through regulation will this desire be controlled. Religious Regulations Religions and philosophies inuence the answer to this question of evil. Most laws are derived from religious beliefs. Many of the laws are universal, such as prohibitions against killing, stealing, bearing false witness against a neighbor and coveting a person's possessions. Other religious commandments and laws are geared more toward moral issues such as the expectation of children to respect their father and mother and for married people to not commit adultery against their spouses. Many world wide monotheistic religions declare that if any person violates the commandments or expectations that have been established by their own sacred deity than that person is evil. Since so many monotheistic religions are different from each other the problem about perspective still remains. Within western societies many people associate the color yellow with joy, fun, hope, excitement, exuberance, good times, sunshine and cowardice. In the country of China many people associate the color yellow with evil, dread, terror and horror. Who can really claim to have the right perspective on the matter? This is the same problem that all people face when it comes to dening what is evil. A New Guide Jesus Christ of Nazareth stated that no one is good but God. Almost everyone will not agree with Jesus and his perspective on God, but we will create our own standards and guide based upon our exposure to our own environmental teachings to establish our belief in God and Jesus. When anyone takes time to understand and then believes in the words of Jesus as a guide there is a realization that Satan and his evilness is within all of us and the only way to get rid of this spirit is by casting his lies out with the truth found in the words of

Jesus. They then become a guide and a standard to live by. This guide or standard will become a new spirit replacing the evilness created by demons in our lives. ==== ===== Learn about Evil In Everyday Life At: http://www.whatisevil.org/ ==== =====
