ESSAY PLANNING EXERCISE

1. Focusing your essay planning exercise

In completing this exercise, you focus on finding information relevant to your essay and
you start outlining your argument. Essay questions are handed in as well. You can
approach the lecturer at any time during this exercise.

2. When should you start this exercise?

This essay planning exercise is designed for you to start after 21st August. By that stage,
you will have heard a range of views and topics relating to contemporary issues in Fiji.
So you will be able to spend a few weeks practicing these skills and be ready to submit
the exercise by week 7. I will hand the exercise back to you in week 9. Remember, after
you hand this plan in, you will continue with your essay research and writing. DO NOT
HALT PRODUCTION WHILE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR PLAN TO BE RETURNED.
Your essay will be submitted at the end of week 12.

I hope that you will have explored more than two books, two articles and two website by
the time you submit this exercise, however, choose two of each as examples of your
progress.
