FormulaShell* Motor Oils

Guaranteed Protection for our North American Extremes
PRODUCT LINE FormulaShell motor oils have once again moved with the times to meet the most current industry. Specifications: ILSAC GF-4 and API SM(ILSAC GF-4 viscosity grades only) . FormulaShell Synthetic Blend is available in 5W-30, 10W-30 and 20W-50 viscosity grades. FormulaShell is available in 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40 viscosity grades. The FormulaShell family of premium motor oils is designed to provide exceptional protection for all types of North American and imported vehicles in both hot and cold weather. The 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 grades exceed ILSAC GF4/API SM and can be used where ILSAC GF-3 and GF-2 are recommended. All grades of FormulaShell motor oil exceed the API SL service classification and can be used where API SJ and SH are recommended. FormulaShell is designed to deliver the optimum mineral oil performance. FormulaShell Synthetic Blends, are partially synthetic formulations, utilizing specialty base stocks to extend the performance capabilities beyond those of conventional mineral oil blends, especially in the extreme temperatures of the North American climate (both Canada and the U.S.). APPLICATIONS Many domestic automobile manufacturers now recommend 5W-30 grade engine oils year round with 10W-30 being the preferred grade for other models of cars and light trucks. Typically Japanese manufacturers are also recommending lighter grades such as 5W-30 and 10W-30 while many European manufacturers prefer heavier grades such as 10W-40 or 20W-50 particularly in high temperature operation. All manufacturers recognize the need for 5W-30 grades at lower temperatures to ensure adequate oil flow and engine protection in winter extremes. The appropriate grade of FormulaShell can be recommended for most vehicles. The FormulaShell 5W-30 grade is appropriate for most cars for all season use and all gasoline powered vehicles for winter use. FormulaShell 10W-30 is more appropriate for all season use in light trucks or turbocharged engines while the 10W-40 grade is available for import vehicles. 5W-20 is a new grade that has been introduced in the last few years. Several manufacturers including Ford and Honda recommend this grade for its improved fuel economy performance. FormulaShell 5W-20 satisfies requirements where a 5W20 is recommended. FormulaShell Synthetic Blend provides a greater operating range compared to conventional motor oils. The 5W-30 grade provides extended low temperature starting capability in winter extremes. The 20W-50 grade is designed for high performance engines operating in severe service and summer extremes, particularly for some European vehicles. FormulaShell Synthetic Blend 10W-30 is also available for those customers who prefer this popular viscosity grade. Don't be mistaken that FormulaShell Synthetic Blend is just for winter! All viscosity grades (where recommended by your owners manual) are more than capable summer time performers. The appropriate grade of FormulaShell or FormulaShell Synthetic Blend exceeds all specifications for gasoline engines and are recommended for vehicles operating on Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

PERFORMANCE BENEFITS

FormulaShell and FormulaShell Synthetic Blend provide excellent wear protection for valve trains in today's high performance cars and light trucks. They deliver premium protection in all North American extremes from severe "stop & go" service to continuous operation at higher temperatures and heavy loads. Maintains Excellent Engine Cleanliness - FormulaShell and FormulaShell Synthetic Blend are blended with potent dispersants and detergents to help combat varnish and sludge deposits throughout the engine. Pistons are kept cleaner and ring sticking is avoided to ensure efficient engine operation and prevent power loss. Sludge, which can deposit throughout the engine causing oil passages and screens to plug, is controlled to ensure critical components are not starved of lubricant. Outstanding High Temperature Performance - FormulaShell has proven performance capability for high temperature ambient conditions. The chemistry chosen for the new ILSAC GF-4, API SM versions has demonstrated outstanding oil thickening and oxidation control. When its hot FormulaShell and FormulaShell Synthetic Blend protect. Low Temperature Fast Flow - FormulaShell Synthetic Blend 5W-30 is more fluid during start-up at low temperatures to help ensure easier cold weather starts than conventional motor oils. It lubricates critical components rapidly during cranking and warm-up. Excellent Fuel Economy and Fuel Economy retention - FormulaShell 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 and FormulaShell Synthetic Blend 5W-30 and 10W-30 are Energy Conserving, according to the low friction engine fuel economy requirements for passenger cars, vans, and light duty trucks. FormulaShell 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30 as well as FormulaShell Synthetic Blend 5W-30 and 10W-30 all provide the emission system durability benefits designed into the ILSAC GF-4 specification. Low Oil Consumption - Specialty basestocks have been selected to control oil volatility. The use of specialty stocks in FormulaShell 5W-20, 5W-30 and FormulaShell Synthetic Blend 5W-30 and 10W-30 results in low volatility and oil consumption without compromising superior low temperature flow and fuel economy. FormulaShell meets or exceeds North American warranty requirements for worldwide car manufacturers: including European and Japanese where API SM (SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30) is requested. FormulaShell provides excellent performance in GM 6094 specifications (SAE 5W-30 and 10W-30), Chrysler MS 6395 specification (SAE 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30) as well as Ford WSS-M2C153-H and WSS-M2C930-A specification (SAE 5W-20), and WSS-M2C929-A (5W-30).
