Statement of Problem

Does the students that are attending Bridge Port High School are feeling safe while school is in session?

Reason For Selecting The Area Of Research

Violence in school have become a burning issue in todays society and it need to be highlighted because it is a very serious matter. I selected this area of research because I strongly believe that the safety of the children is very important and should not be treated lightly.

Method of Investigation
The method I selected to collect data is questionnaire. I choose questionnaire because the responses are gathered in a standardized way and it is relatively quick to collect information using a questionnaire. Potentially information can be collected from a large portion of a group. I therefore find questionnaire to be a very effective way of collecting information.

Statement Of Findings
1. Questionnaires answered by student at the school have shown that

52% of the students said that all of the violence such as fighting, extortion and stealing has taken place at their school.
2. A 70% response from the students when they were further

questioned it was said that the principal was doing his best with ensuring that they are safe during school sessions.
3. Information gathered from the questionnaires has shown equality

with those who find detention and others to be a good penalty for students who get there self involved in violent acts at school. These were a 30% response.

Recommendations
1. The researcher would recommend that parents should visit their

child or children school that they are attending to regularly keep track of how their child/ren are doing at school and the kind of friends they are hanging out with before and after school.
2. If the principal takes stricter action towards these children

whenever they do these violent acts the researcher believes that with these implementations along with punishments are put in place then there would be a significant decrease in the amount out violence taking place at the school.
3. Another suggestion is that the principal of Bridge Port High

School should place a 100% emphasis in ensuring that the students are safe at the school and keep parents updated with the behavior of their child/ren.

Procedures for Data Collection

A total of 40 questionnaires were given out to students of the Bridge Port High School. It was quite easy for me to select my location to which group of children I would be giving the questionnaires to as I am a student of the school and is associated to the students of the school. Questionnaires was given out to the students of my class where I waited until the questionnaires were finished answered. In this group of children there were a large amount of females than males and most of them were between the ages of 16-17.

Interpretation of Data
In question four(4) or figure 4, the question was asked what are some of the violent that took place at your school? Most of the students stated that all of the following violence had taken place at their school. It was stated that 8% of the students said that extortion had taken place, 15% of the students said that stealing had taken place, 25% of the student body stated that fight is also occurring and most of the students stated that all of the following violent activities are taking place at the school. In question six/figure six the question was asked; Do you think the principal is doing his best for you to feel safe? The responses from most of the students stated that the principal is not doing his best for them to feel safe. So I do understand why most of the students stated in question 4 that all of the following violent activities are taking place because the principal is not doing his best. In question nine/figure nine the question asked; What are some of the penalties that should be put in place by your principal to put a stop to bad behavior? The responses from the students body stated that suspension should be put in place with a 15% support, 25% said expulsion and 30% support detention and also 30% mentioned others.
