~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gandhi Jayanti is a National Holiday observed in India. This holiday is to mark the occasion of the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (M.K.Gandhi). He was called as the Father of the Nation and Mahatma Gandhi (Mahatma Means a great sou l). With a great love and respect he was most popularly called as Bapu. (Bapu me ans Father in Hindi). Mahatma Gandhi was a man of Simple Living and High Thinkin g and he was a firm believer of Non Violence."He was born on October 2, 1869. He nce Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on the 2nd of October. It is one of the three official declared National Holidays of India and is observed in all In dian states and union territories. The United Nations General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that the 2nd of Oct ober will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.
