LIE PLAYERS KEEP FIT INCOLDSNAP

Fixtures from amateur to senior level were wiped out and Arthurlie have not kicked a competitive ball since their 2-0 Scottish Cup victory against Oakley United last month. It leaves the gaffer little choice but to arrange friendlies and keep them ticking over after matches against Clydebank and Largs Thistle failed to beat the big freeze. He told Barrhead Sport: We have managed to get in a friendly against Greenock at Battery Park last week (30 Arthurlie) and we are hoping to have a friendly with Larkhall Thistle this Wednesday (tonight) at Braehead. We are trying to squeeze in games and it is our job to keep the players active and fit. The gaffer also confirmed summer signing Keith Hogg has left the club and he has swiftly moved to secure the signing of 25-year-old defender David Wilson from Saltcoats Vics. He said: Keith wanted to start matches and I could not give him the game time that he wanted, he said he wanted to go as he is in his 30s and did not want to miss out on any football if he could get the chance to play. So we reluctantly let him go to Bathgate Thistle but we brought in David from Saltcoats Vics and he has come in to try and push for a place. Our back four is coming together well and the team might not like the weather we are training in but they all turn up and get on with it. Weather permitting, Arthurlies next top flight action is against Kirky Rob Roy at Dunterlie on Christmas Eve, kick-off 1.45pm. Sauchie can expect turf luck at Brig OLea Saints

NEILSTON gaffer Robert Fox is not fazed with their Emirates Scottish Cup replay against Sauchie because he reckons many sides have come a cropper on the Brig OLea turf. Neilston will meet Boness United in the round if they can see off Sauchie and Fox is hoping the tie gets the go ahead this week. Fox said: Even when I was a player teams would leave here saying that Neilston were their bogey team that is a lot of teams but we cannot be everyones bogey side.

DREAM DRAW: Boness, pictured against Clydebank in the last round, will face Neilston if the Brig OLea side beat Sauchie

There was at least three inches of snow on the Brig OLea park on Saturday so the game was cancelled. Depending on the weather we have the chance to play the match on Christmas Eve. I told the boys it is a possibility and they seem up for it. It is an important game and hopefully we can do it as it is Boness in the next round. We can win it, we are fully capable if we give 100 per

cent and we are at Neilston with a home advantage. I know some teams might take a day off but it has been two weeks since we played and the turnout at training has been first class. The players will put all their hard work into the Sauchie game and it will show as they are not just turning up to only train. Neilstons cup replay with Sauchie takes place on Christmas Eve, kick-off 1.30pm. Keep up to date with the club on Twitter, @ NeilstonJFC.
