Aggregates / sand are tested on a daily basis by the concrete supplier own testing Laboratory and the cement content on a weekly basis by the supplier. Water is supplied by SYABAS. We shall inspect / test / audit the batching plant when necessary. 5.3 Monitoring on Site, Testing and Sampling 5.3.1 Monitoring on Site A monitoring station shall be set up where all incoming/outgoing concrete trucks shall pass. Delivery Order shall be checked for grade of concrete, time of batching, number and slump test which are then filed accordingly. Testing Schedule (a) One set of cubes shall be made for each 40m or less batched for each grade of concrete, or as required by the client / consultant (b) The testing of cubes will be as follows:a. 3 nos at 7 days b. 3 nos at 14 days c. 3 nos at 28 days Samples shall be taken from the point of discharge from the delivery vehicle. Concrete shall be transport from the batching plant to its placing point without any segregation or loss of any ingredients (c) All tests shall be witnessed by the Resident Engineer (RE) or Cow and the results are submitted immediately after the test.

Vibrators shall be inserted vertically and withdraw at many points from 450mm to 750mm apart for short period usually from 5 to 15 second in preference to insertion at wider intervals for longer periods. External vibrators shall operate at a minimum frequency of 9000 cycles Placing of concrete in column or wall with formwork more than 3 meters in height but not more than 4 meters shall used concrete of Pump mix for 1 meter in height followed by normal mix for the balance to avoid segregation. Concrete shall be deposited as quickly as practicable in its final position to avoid segregation due to re-handling of flowing Concrete that has partially hardened or been contaminated with foreign materials shall not be deposited into the structure

5.6.10 The time between adding water and discharge concrete into final position shall not exceed two hour for normal concrete 5.6.11 Placing of concrete for slab shall be poured in alternate panels to minimize shrinkage 5.7 Construction Joints 5.7.1 Construction joints shall be permitted only where indicated on approved for constructions drawings or proposed by the contractor with approval from consultant The surface for all construction joints shall be horizontal and vertical. Irregular construction joints shall not be permitted When water tight construction is required a water-stop from approved manufacture supplier shall be set in position and fixed securely so that the water-stop will not move or be damaged during pouring of concrete If the concrete is cast against a surface which has hardened, the surface shall be roughened until the aggregate over the whole surface is exposed, cleaned, thoroughly wetted with cement slurry
