5. Scene Planning Although the main points of the story was maintained in the film adaptation of The Godfather.

There were many transformations in the scenes from the novel. First, the sequence of events. There were many omitted scenes just like the omitted characters which really affected the flow of the whole story. It also appeared that the director only took a portion of a complete scene like in the conversation of Johnny Fontane and Don Corleone whereas the director only included Fontanes problem in his Hollywood career and also many scenesfrom the novel were treated like this in the film. Also, there were scenes which were not directly presented in the novel but the film had shown wholly like the abduction of Tom Hagen and the murdering of Luca Brasi which was also revealed early. Second, the different adaptation of the scenes. During the wedding of Connie Corleone, Johnny Fontane did not sung alone to the bride but he was accompanied by Nino Valenti in the novel because his voice was not in good condition.Likewise, Michael did not met Apollonia in the road because in the novel together with his guards they were peeking to the ladies playing in the farm and Apollonia just discovered their existence and run. Also, Clemenza did not put the gun in the restaurant bathroom when Michael will kill Sollozzo and McCluskey unlike what were presented in the film and Michael also did not go the place of Kay Adams to reconcile because in the novel they just met accidentally when Kay visited Corleones house in New York. Most of all, Michael did not kill all the leaders of the powerful families in contrast with what happened in the film. Lastly, the switching of setting when Don Corleone warned Michael about the traitor within their business it occurred outside in the garden unlike in the novel whereas it took place in the library. Also, the baptism of Connies son did not happen in the church as Michael requested in the novel that it happened inside their house in Long beach Island. In addition, there were also many scenes which were adapted in different setting. 6.Recommendation The novel of the Godfather was very well written , complete and very interesting. The whole concept was great so I dont have any against in it. By contrast, the film was concised although it somehow possessed the main points in the story. It occurred plainly as expected in the novel because the director just followed what were stated in the novel. It would be better if he added extraordinary twists to make it more fruitful to the viewers. Furthermore, the film adaptation appeared more violent than the novel because there were some murderous scene like the killings of all leaders and the scene in front of an establishment whereas all people outside were killed. Most of all, the scene when Moe Greene was shot in the eye was very dreadful however it somehow lost its touch of reality when the blood that come out in his eye was pink. It would be great if the director made the fluid he used to really look like bloody red as human blood. 7.Conclusions The novel and the film of The Godfather generally established a potent story from its phenomenally intriguing plot. It was full of clevr lessons and realizations in life. However, the two literature were variously adapted and between the two it was the novel that brillantly shone. Compared to the film, the novel had an eye-popping
