Not A Nightmare Anymore

Part I

I was an ordinary girl, just like any other girl. I was smart, funny, always happy, had many friends, and I was just.. Normal. Everybody was my friend, no one hated me. I was a good student too. I always did my homework, never turned it in late, and all the teachers liked me. I was a good daughter as well. I loved and listened to my parents, I never got into fights with them and I never disobeyed. I was normal. Its kind of hard to believe that was me almost a year ago. Now here I am, in my room with the door locked and my whole room up in flames. Im sitting on the floor next to my bed, trying to hide. I have tears coming out of my eyes like rivers, the flames make my tears burn against my cheek. I have a crowbar in both hands, ready to hit whatever was outside my door. I feel my heart beating faster and faster with every breath I take. And then Silence.

My name is Carrie. Carrie Hutson. I am 16 years old and I live in a small town named Winslow, Arizona. My mom is like any other mom. She is sweet, caring, kind, helpful, and most of all understanding. She was always there for me whenever I felt sad about something. She always understood what I was going through. She was always there to comfort me, help me in my times of troubles, and she never blamed me or tried to hurt me in any way. When her gentle hazel eyes stare into your eyes, you seem to melt in the warmth and comfort they bring to you. When she wraps you in one of her world famous mom hugs, you instantly feel like you just want to stay in her arms for the rest of your life. You feel happy. You feel. safe.

My dad is just the same as my mom; loving, caring, always happy, never strict, and always there for me. When you look into his sea blue eyes, you feel like you can tell him anything! He always looks out for you. He never would lie to you. Whenever you had a question, he would give you an honest answer every time. No matter what the question was. But mainly I loved my parents and my parents loved me.

Let me start from the beginning, about 12 years ago. I have always had this one dream always popping up in my head while I slept. I have had it ever since I was little, when I turned 4 years old. That night on my birthday, I had a dream of me in a room but it wasnt my room. It was freezing and it was very dark. There were no windows and no doors, the only light showing was a single light bulb hanging in the middle of the ceiling producing a dim light. I am the only person in the room, and the only thing in the room. There is no bed, no rug, no posters, no nothing. Just me and my thoughts. I stand up and walk around the room. I feel around the walls and try to find an opening or a crack in the wall. Anything that would lead me to a door or window. Then suddenly, I feel eyes on the back of my head. I look around, but no one is here with me. I keep looking, feeling for anything. Then I hear a faint female childs voice say, Carrie. Carrie?.. Want to play Carrie?.. Im lonely Carrie Come play with me Carrie. Come play.

I turn around the room and see no one, but their voice still lingers in the room. I feel so frightened! The voice gives me goose bumps and make the hair on the back of my neck stand up! I crouch in a dark corner of the room and start to cry. I put my head in between my legs and when I look up again, I am in a different room. This looks like my bedroom, but something is different. I stand up from the corner and walk over to my bed and sit down. The I hear a big THUMP from my wall behind me. I jump and scream and my heart starts to race very fast. I stand up and I look onto the floor. On the floor was footprints! Red footprints. I crouch down and stick my finger in it to see if it was paint, but when I smelled it it was not paint at all! It was BLOOD!!! I stagger away from the sight and notice that it leads from under my bed to under my door and out of my room.

I open my door and follow the footprints down the hall and into my parents room. The footprints lead me to under their bed. I get on my hands and knees and look under the bed, my whole body shaking like crazy! I look and see a small, dark figure crouching on the other side of the bed looking at me! I cant see the face, its all just a dark figure. It looks like a girl! Then I look up and look onto the other side of the bed and see no one there!! I look back under the bed quickly and dont see the figure.
Part II

I go onto the other side of the bed and see more bloody footprints leading out from the other side of my parents bed and out the door that I came in. I slowly get up from the floor and slowly and cautiously walk to the door, open it, and find more bloody footprints going down the hallway. They go down the hall and past my room. Then all of a sudden I hear a little girls helpless and weak voice screaming, NO!!! PLEASE!! Someone help me!! Please! Will anyone help me, please?! Please!! No! No! No!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Then I hear a ripping and drilling sound. Then I hear a breaking sound, almost like a bone breaking. I stop in my tracks and look all around. Up and down the hallway, from roof to floor but I cant find anything that could have made that sound. I am shaking like crazy and I am starting to cry. I see the footprints leading to the bathroom door. I walk slowly to the door and my breathing gets all weird and I am struggling to breath. The footprints go under the door. I shakily reach for the doorknob and I hear and feel someone. or something, breathing down the back of my neck. The breathe is ice cold against my hot burning, terrified skin. The hairs on my neck stand up as a cool chill runs down my spine and back up. My right hand finally reaches the knob and I pull away with a sudden jerk, the doorknob was blazing hot! I scream in pain of the knob burning my hand. I look at my hand and see the burning blisters on it. Then blood drips onto my hand from nowhere! I look up at the ceiling, but nothing is there! I run to my room in terror. I cant feel my legs at all, but they know where to go. I burst into my room, slam the door, turn around and lock it. There is a thick metallic smell lingering in the room. I start to cry

uncontrollably. Then I turn around and scream! There in the middle of my bedroom is a giant metal machine with a little girl strapped to it. Her head is strapped in leather straps to hold it up. Her arms and legs are strapped in securely to hold them in place. Her feet have screws in them to hold them down to the machine. Her arms have screws too. Blood is seeping out of her feet and arms where the screws are placed. She is just a little girl, not over the age of 10. She is wearing a white lace nightgown with long baggy sleeves. It hangs down to about her knees. She is very pale, probably from loosing so much blood. She is very skinny and short. You can see all her bony features from her ribs to her bones in her legs. She has long black, messed up hair that is hanging down to her shoulders. Her hair is in her face just enough so I cant see any eyes or facial features. She suddenly, and very slowly, shakes the hair from her head and I can see her face. She has blood dripping all down her face from a giant cut on her forehead. Help.. Me Please. she says with a scratchy and very weak voice. I have the sudden urge to help her, I lose all my fear in the strange things that are happening. I rush over to her and look around for a way to get her out. She is crying in both sorrow and pain now. Her breath is staggering and she is trying to gasp for air with every breath she takes. I look up at her wet and bloody face and move her hair aside and say to her in the comforting voice my body can hold, Its going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay. Im going to get you out of here, okay? Can you hear me? Whats your name? Yes I can hear you. My name is Beth. Please help me! I want my mommy! she says in a frightened voice. I try to untwist the screws with my hands, but every time I try to the little girl screams in pain. I look around, feeling hopeless. I look down at the floor and see a wrench just barely peeking out from under my bed. Beth, Im going to need you to be a brave girl. Can you do that for me? I ask.

Ill try. she says. I walk over to my bed and pick up the wrench from under my bed and walk back over in front of Beth. I kneel down next to her feet and put the wrench on the screw holding her right foot. Im going to turn the wrench on three, okay? OneTwo. Beth tenses up her body and braces for the worst. Her face is all wrinkled up and she is closing her eyes, just waiting to get it over with. Part III I run to my room in terror. I cant feel my legs at all, but they know where to go. I twist the wrench, the screw comes out of Beths foot, and she screams in pain. Blood splashes onto my face and I feel the warm, stickiness of it. The metallic smell just pours into my nose. Blood starts gushing out of her foot. I run over to my closet, trow open the door, and grab any shirt or jacket I can get my hands on. I rush back over to Beth and cover her foot with my shirts. I do the same thing over and over again until all her arms and feet are free. I unstrap her head and she is finally free. She wraps her arms around me and I help her down. I sit her down on the ground and she looks really weak. Beth, are you okay? I ask. She puts her head down so her hair covers her face again. She puts both her hands behind her back. She suddenly tenses up her body again. As she tenses up, her small body seems to tremble and shake.

The all of a sudden I hear Beth say in the scariest and deadliest, almost a scratchy and sounding very harmful, voice I have ever heard, Carrie lets play a game! Its called Bye, Bye Carrie!! She brings her hands out from behind her back to reveal her hands holding a butchers knife. She suddenly stands up with a jerk and starts screaming and running towards me, the knife held high above her head ready to swing and hit anything. Her nightgown flying by her legs as her feet sprint across the wood-covered floor, blood-splattered. Her hair flying behind her head. Her eyes are pure black. Her scream is a terrifying sound. Almost a mix of a loud scream from a dying person and a scream from a banshee. Just an awful sound to anybodys ears. Her mouth more open than any human mouth could possibly ever be. A terrifying sight that is burned in the back of my mind for all my life. I instinctively jump out of the her way just as she brings the knife down, just missing my right arm. I land on the floor just about 15 feet away beside her. She turns my way and gives me a creepy smile. Her teeth are yellow with little spots of black all over. I then notice all the details on her face that were not there before. Her entire face has blue veins popping out like giant blue spider webs covering ever inch of her face. Her facial skin looks like it has been rotting for quite sometime, yet looking so pale. She has patches of skin missing from her left cheek and blood is streaked with both fresh and dry blood. Come on Carrie! Dont you want to play with me? Please Carrie? Play with me!, Beth says in an almost taunting voice. I am still on the floor panting and gasping for air, terrified at what I have just experienced. Never in all my life have I ever had something so terrifying happen to me. She stands in front of me and holds the knife high above her head, her hands and arms streaked with blood. Her black eyes burn into mine. There is a big, twisted smile on her face. I want to look away, but her eyes have me paralyzed where I am on the floor. She lets out a scream and, as hard as she can, brings the knife soaring down, slicing through the air. I stay paralyzed, unable to move. I held my breath, waiting for the knife to come down and slice into my chest. Then I awaken and sit up suddenly with a jerk, sweat running all down my body. My eyes are bobbing out of my head, my mind just flushed with both terror from the nightmare and relief from being alive. I am gasping for air, gulping in mouthful after mouthful of air. Staggering to catch my breath. And ever since that night, I have had the same dream over and over and over again every night. Every time beginning and ending the same way, not one detail ever misplaced.
