METAPHOR AND MEMORY;  PRIVATE ROADS AND PROPHETIC TURNS: 
LIMITATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES,POSSIBILITIES,STRUCTURE AND DESIGN
AND RANDOM AND ORGANIZED APPLICATIONS and ARTISTIC MAGIC.

The ironing Board Closet is a defined space that offers me the opportunity to
limit the size of my pieces but to show a microcosm and macrocosm of the imagined 
and the real world.  Nano technology is here in 2008.  WE HAVE
LA PETITE MUSEE.

Petite,precious objects that inspire and ellicit poignant,provocative moments.
Small,synthetic realistic and abstract portraits that recognize local legends, merging and 
collaborating with lyrical and poetic landscapes , still lives that
have meaning, that reflect Berkshire moments and memories.

Private papers and canvases,paints,poems that interpret and define my interraction with 
Berkshire County, my favorite location and safe haven.  Here I, like the  Stockbridge 
indians, the pioneers, and my children, return to heal
and to grow.   The land, the sky, the mountains inspire me as it did for 
Melville,Hawthorne, Wharton, Barnett,Oates,Laura Secord,Paline Kael,W.E.Dubois.
etc.

I propose an installation as a safe and special space.  Hermetic and expansive
in it's suggestions and limitations.  Like a treasure chest, a hope chest, a pirate's
chest, a young girl's dreams, a mother's conception. A music box, a jewelry case. 
Drawings,recreated charms,a miniature lilac bush,a greeting card,an uncancelled 
envelope....................a
trophy,star,heart,wishing well,scarab,wish bone, fortunes,dolls,toys,stuffed bears,
cats,photographs of famous and familiar sacred and favorite people and things.

I see the mountain as a poem
The river as a novel
the tree as a paragraph
the leaf as an apostrophe
a flower is the prayer.
A branch could be a mediation.  A meditation.  A metaphor and a conceit.
The fields, the forest,the woods,beyond human understanding or horizons.
No boundaries,no breadth,no fences.  No preconditions or punctuations.
But trial and error, repetition,consistency,no formality.
Nature is a miracle.  Not a mechanical achievement.  Man is the caretaker
to the restive,random fluency,fluidity,without litigation or supervision.  Beyond
criticism or lawsuits, no locks or doors.
The rivers and sky are astronomical,magical portals to another side.
A mystery,a contemplation,the lakes, the ponds,the tributary,another mystery.
The lawn,man's comprehension:  of a prayer.  
Who wrote the song?  The incantation,the message?  Who designed the sun,fog,
rain,countryside,landscapes?  As an artist, can we convey these questions and
answer some of them in our installation and exhibit?

Can the artistic individual exist separate from society?
Reclaim our liberty here in the woods, with our neighbors looking over their
shoulders,congregating,mediating,protecting.   

This closet makes me think:
My brain,my memories,my images,my dreams,my tributes,my insights,my loves,
my passions, my home,my light, my joy.  Can this all be demonstrated and expressed 
with the imposed limits of 11" wide and 74" long and 4" deep while
considering color,light,limits,boundaries,sizes,frames,materials,value.
