Questions and Answers What is meant by EPF Members Hajj Registration? It is a facility to enable an EPF member with EPF savings to register for hajj at the Lembaga Tabung Haji without having to deposit a minimum of RM1,300.00 savings in the Tabung Haji account. 2. Can members withdraw their EPF savings through this facility? No. EPF members cannot withdraw their EPF savings as this facility is not a type of withdrawal. This facility is only to register to queue for pilgrimage. It is also not meant to finance the pilgrimage. Since the EPF savings for this facility remains in the EPF, therefore the savings will receive dividend as normal. 3. Who is eligible for the EPF Members Hajj Registration facility? EPF members who are eligible are as follows: i. Malaysian citizen or Permanent Resident ii. Of Islamic faith iii. Has EPF savings of at least RM1,300.00 in Account 1 iv. Has not attained the age of 55 years v. Has savings account at Tabung Haji 4. How do I apply for the EPF Members Hajj Registration facility? EPF members must visit any Lembaga Tabung Haji, Bank Rakyat and Bank Islam branch by bringing along their MyKad and EPF Statement. Note: Members must open a savings account at Tabung Haji (if they have not done so) 5. Where can members obtain the EPF Statement? Members can obtain the EPF Statement from: i. Any nearest EPF Office ii. EPF Kiosk iii. myEPF website i-Akaun member iv. EPF Annual Statement sent via mail 6. Can members register for hajj under this facility for their spouses or parents or children? No. This facility is for members individual registration only. 7. When is the EPF Members Hajj Registration facility effective? The EPF Members Hajj Registration facility is effective beginning 3 January 2012. 8. Can the EPF Members Hajj Registration be cancelled? Yes. It is up to the EPF member. 9. Can members of above 55 years old use this facility? No, only members below 55 years old are eligible for this facility. 10. Why are members of above 55 years old not eligible for this facility? At 55 years old, members can withdraw all their EPF savings anytime. Therefore, they can register at Tabung Haji themselves.

Does the EPF Members Hajj Registration enable members to perform their pilgrimage sooner as compared to the previous procedure? No, the pilgrimage is still subject to the rotation system of pilgrimage.

Can members who have already registered under the Tabung Hajis procedure change the registration to the EPF Members Hajj Registration facility without having to change the rotation date provided earlier? Yes. EPF members who have already registered for hajj under the Tabung Haji procedure can change the registration to the EPF Members Hajj Registration facility and the rotation date provided earlier remains. Opting for this facility would free up the initial RM1,300 that was deposited for the registration. Currently, the change can only be made at any Tabung Haji branch.

Will the registration be affected if members withdraw all their EPF savings such as Incapacitation Withdrawal or Pensionable Employees Withdrawal? The hajj registration will not be affected and remains as current.

Can members who make the Incapacitation Withdrawal be given priority to perform their pilgrimage earlier than the date given, provided that they have enough savings? No, the hajj pilgrimage is still subject to the rotation system.

Can EPF members withdraw their EPF savings to fund the overall cost to perform their pilgrimage? No. The EPF savings is the savings for retirement. However, under this facility, members can register to obtain the rotation number to perform the pilgrimage.
