Chief Richard L. Harvey, BIO Chief Harvey has 46 years in the Fire Service starting as a volunteer firefighter.

He became a full-time firefighter with the Mentor Fire Department in 1974. He has held the position of Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Lieutenant, Training Officer and Battalion Chief. He was Fire Chief for the City of Kirtland for four (4) years and has been Chief of the Mentor Fire Department for the last ten (10) years. Chief Harvey has an Associate Degree of Fire Science from Cuyahoga Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Technical Education from the University of Akron. He also has as Associate Degree of Science in Nursing from Lakeland Community College and is a Registered Nurse and Paramedic. Chief Harvey, a Mentor resident for 26 years, has been married to his wife, Diana, for 34 years. His son Todd is a full-time Firefighter/ Paramedic for the City of Eastlake and part-time Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Kirtland.
