Superb Performance in Directional Control

Boeing has spearheaded the design and development of a new tail rotor system, a system that features a 5.2-foot-diameter tail rotor system and new tail rotor gearbox. This remarkable new system has completed sub-system qualification and is in qualification flight testing.

Excellent Performance in the New Main Rotor System Boeing has also equipped the AH-6 with a new main rotor system to improve performance and capability. Other improvements include: Tail boom extension Tail rotor driveshaft coupling Four counterweight arms Demonstrated 40 percent improvement in thrust Enhanced directional control and reduced pilot workload Redesigned and qualified a new vertical stabilizer Significantly improved directional control margins A new collective trim actuator that reduces collective forces throughout the flight Spectrum Decreases maintenance time. New tail rotor driveshaft coupling design allows for tail rotor system removal without removing the driveshaft.
