Explain how Shakespeare has represented the funeral speeches of Brutus and Antony to the plebeians. What conflicting perspectives, in regards to events and characters, are evident?

Through the spoken word a character is able to accomplish a great many of things. Through their efforts they are able to entice the audience, set forth their ideas and beliefs and even manipulate their audience into carrying the same thought as them, but how? Through the many techniques notion can undoubtedly be seen through the speeches, presented by Brutus and Antony, during the funeral ceremony of Julius Caesar. Rewrite the thesis of this response. I DONT LIKE IT The confronting plebeians, who open the second scene of act three, create a tense atmosphere, for Brutus, Cassius and the conspirators, as they demand for answers in regards to the murder of Julius Caesar. Brutus quickly approaches the pulpit where he will address them in an attempt to clarify his motives over the murder. He greets the plebeians as fellow Romans, countrymen, and lovers! in an effort to lower himself and create a sense of equality and unity, which in turn will allow an opportunity for him to gain their ears and possibly their trust. He cries to the audience hear me for my cause, showcasing an emotional appeal, which in itself is an implication that he truly believes in the motives he holds. Rephrase Brutus continues to flow from this sense of clarification with the audience and does so with the use of third person. He states, Brutus love to Caesar was no less than the audiences, as he examines the emotions the audience must be experiencing and comparing this with his own. By the use of third person Brutus is virtually removed from the stage and is theoretically replaced by a body speaking in no favour. Along with this Brutus continues to utilise his logical reasoning to build a patriotic rally that will, hopefully, draw him through to their trust and understanding as he explains to them that it was not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Brutus makes use of rhetorical questions, Who is here so base that would be a bondman? Brutus does not allow for the audience to ponder on these questions and instead directly answers them in a manner that enables him to retain his power. This enables Brutus to continue with control through his speech and removes from the people their independence. It then seems by the end of Brutus address that the plebeians are quite drawn to Brutus intention and do not hold the same frustration they once held. With Brutus authority Mark Antony approaches the plebeians and begins to speak. Brutus trust extends to allow Antony to make his speech without his presence.
