REFLECTIVE LEARNING LOG This learning log is a reflection of the experience i had in this course.

I have decided to use a question and answer approach because I feel it addreses critically my posits. What do you understand by Innovation Innovation is the combination of knowledge from various aspects also may be described as the dance of two questions whats possible, whats needed. . innovation does not only means creativity and different ways of doing things . What is the nature of the course The innovation course is a multifacet as it cross across geographical boundaries disciplines organisations. It is wide. The innovation is structured :I search, learninin log group work shop presentationThe nature of the course is mutltitasking and it is rich. Infact not only does it have richness it has reach because it cuts across geographical boundaries its and harness a wealth of knowledge. What aspects of the course impresses you? Sincerely every aspect of the course has been interesting and enhanced learning for instance: Innovation Search The weekly isearch was competirive among groups as we tried to explore what goes around the world this process widens our horizon and every week my curiousity increases. This exposure has made me to be aware of latest inventions and innovations which I will take advantage in any business environment. little wonder why Bessant and Tidd described innovation as the combination of knowledge. Isearch has exposed me to various areas of knowledge. Group work Network is an interaction of people over time I have been able to learn how to work in a group and meet deadlines. I could recall my firsrt encounter with my group was not smooth as this was as as a result of my background, values, style and knowledge. Group working has availed me the opportunity to adopt certain cultural diffusion among team members and social change. This makes me remember Thomas veblein and the concept of technological determinism as a process where technology determines the way we do things. I strongly agree with him because the

collaborative learning tool such as sakai has influenced me as assignment course materials are available on line as against the conventional way of learning in my country. Workshop Every day I look forward to Thursdays and see how various group has applied their previous knowledge and which team carries the crown. This process has motivated me as I always worked so we could be the best. What is your take home My take home from this course is the ability to understand innovation and to see innovation from various perspectives. Also understanding innovation theories . However more specifically ids my ability to link theories with theories and to see how these theories are confronted with practise. Above all is my ability to apply knowledge gained from the course to various aspect work, way of life e.t.c What theories do you learned One of my interesting theories is the diffusion and the diffusion curve. This is because In all Mary and Mikes learning there has never been a time when the word diffusion has never been mentioned. I think the heart beat of innovation is diffusion and Roger did a good work in addressing it. I feel without diffusion of innovation across geographical boundaries innovation may be meaningless as Rogers explained that for an innovation to be well diffused it needs to go through aprocess of social interaction among group of people. I also like the theory of dominant design and incremental innovation for instance Mary and mike wont have gone this far to make this course interesting if there had not been an incremental approach to teaching it. How as the course affected you personally Basically due to the nature of the course It has stretched me because each week we needed towrite a work shop and also to present a quality work. My first few works were not qualitative enough but subsequently I developed a new and innovative approach to learning it and this I have applied in other course works. Also Mary stress on the need to acknowledge superior authorities in our argument this is a very key aspect I have learnt as I apply this theories and talk about it within a network of people in my country it has now become part of me as to acknowledge writers. Do you have any empirical evidence of application of knowledge?

Mike and Rose talked about collaboration and networking. And here she highlighted on the need to collaborate. I have applied this knowledge at the moment with a friend who is an IT specialist addressing a business idea and the need to collaborate he was fascinated and he did. When I resigned from the banking industry Im was sceptical as to what I will do after my degree . Surprisingly as the course the fear fades away and I became mpore confident. Innovation as undoubtedly remove the fear in me.; a change way of thinking. I could recall in the course the need for collaboration and networking and networking played a special role in collaboration. I also learny about incremental innovations such as open source, soft ware as a service. In the course of learning this new things i recalled 2 definitions that innovation is the combination of knowledge and also innovation is a dance of two questions; whats possible what is needed. I though t about what possible as combining my knowledge of collaborative software , opens ource and cloud computing and what is needed ; the fact that small and medium enterprises in my country still work in a manual environment at yhis age of digitalisation . hence I feel theren is a need for sensitisation in this emerging area. Just as collaboration enable achieveing of goals I have sold this idea to my former colleague who is an entrepreneur and he was amazed and quickly bought into the initiative. This emerging area I intend to consider when I go back to my country. However just as in the days How do you intend to influence lives from your knowledge and experience. Mary and Mike have been able to convince me about the need for knowledge sharing especially with their examples of the open source community I now strongly believe in knowledge sharing. First If thaught students in the future I would encourage adoption and introduction of the course innovation to the school. I will also influence my boss on what innovation is all about because people have different views about innovation. In my country people believ in empirical evidenceand by bringing their knowledge to various examples such as the collaboration between Barclays bak and lacks on watch2pay. They feel its only large organisation that collaborate. What advise do you have for on coming students in this course My take home from this course are multi dimensional . If I go down memory lane . I remember I wondered what inniovation was all about . My first cklass in the university was quite challenging. What aspect f the course do you dislike?

Sincerely I wished the course never ended.
