Shine through us and be so in us, that every person we come in contact with may feel your presence. Let them look up and see no longer us, but only you! As we say the prayer from Cardinal Newman for the Living the Eucharist program, reflect on the words of that prayer and allow the images on our banners to reinforce those ideas. The light of God shining through each of us is Gods way of spreading his light and love to the world.
In the second reading today St. Paul tells us that whatever we do to do it for the glory of God and to be imitators of Christ. This Sunday is World Marriage Day which honors husband and wife as the foundation of the family. Commit to making your marriage a priority in your lives and let your marriage relationship give glory to God. Attend the next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend on February 17-19, 2012. Are you looking for a way to get your child involved in your parish? Altar Servers are essential members in the Liturgy, much like the Eucharist Ministers, Lectors (readers), Ushers and Choir members. Their presence and attendance is vital to the Liturgy. Altar Servers are the primary assistant of those who preside over the Mass. Therefore, Altar Serving is NOT a mere childrens activity it is a LITURGICAL MINISTRY. It is a privilege and an important responsibility to undertake and should NOT be taken lightly or for granted. The word SERVICE is the emphasis in the title Altar Server. It is Gods calling to serve Him by serving His people. But when you DO answer the call to serve, it will require a great amount of commitment and sacrifice. And in this case, all service, efforts and activities must include, not just the altar server, but also their parents. The minimum requirements to become an Altar Server are that: 1) they must be Baptized, 2) they must have already received their First Communion, 3) the family must be registered in Christ the King Parish, 4) be at least in the Grade 4 (or entering 4th grade this fall) Please fill out this form and return it to your teacher or drop it in the collection basket during mass attention Mrs. Sherry Rochford.

As we approach Lent, we begin to hear the stories of Jesus healing power in the Gospel. We being to ready our selves for Lent, a time to put into practice what our Stewardship teachings tell us. We teach the Children to fast, pray, and give away during this time of year. We teach them that by fasting from time wasting activities, they can make better use of their time and talent to do Gods work. In praying, we discern what our talents are and use them to help others. In giving away to the less fortunate, we are sharing all that God has given us so that others may see Gods work in action. With the economic situation being what it is today, we have more families who require assistance with their RE tuition. Providing Religious Education for Children is required by Cannon Law and no one can be turned away for not being able to pay for RE. However, some families will not ask for assistance, they will just keep their children at home. I know that you will be bombarded from organizations asking for money and I hate being another asking, but this is important. Would you consider co-sponsoring a family by making a monetary donation to our Religious Education Program? By working together we can ensure that all children who would like to attend Religious Education Classes can do so. You may also help by participating in the MANNA program. By using MANNA, you can choose to support the RE program, the ELA or the Parish Building Fund at no additional cost to you. You simply purchase gift cards for your favorite stores, gas stations, or services you use all the time. The cards are the same face value that you pay for (i.e. pay $50.00 for a $50 card), and the organization will rebate the Parish through the MANNA program. If you find at this time you are unable to assist with monetary donations or the MANNA program, you can always help by praying. There are many families who need our prayers, as we are all in need of some prayer in our lives. I am thankful for all that the Parishioners of Christ the King do for us. YOU are the real Gift to our Parish and are truly appreciated! Gods Peace with you always!! Sherry Rochford
FOR TEENS

We will begin February 21st with an orientation night of games and food at 7:00 PM. We will meet in the School building. Call Sherry Rochford for more information.

Christ the King Parish Telephone Broadcast Service Dear Parishioner, Our Parish Leadership has requested that we make an effort to communicate better with the entire parish. In response to this request we will be instituting a Telephone Broadcasting System beginning February 2012. This system will enable personnel to notify all households by phone of spiritual and informational announcements. This service can also be used for emergency or unplanned events as the need arises. The system we have selected is provided by GroupCast, a company specializing in mass-communication. When used, the service will call all listed phone numbers in our contact list and will deliver a recorded message from Fr Peter Jarosz or another administrator. The service will deliver the message to both live answer and answering machines. No answers and busies will be automatically retried twice in fifteen minute intervals after the initial call. NOTE: 1) This requires NO registration by the you on the GroupCast website. 2). All information and contact numbers are strictly secure and confidential and are only used for the purposes described herein. Here is some specific information you should know: Caller ID: Live Answers: The Call ID will display 630-629-1717, which is the main number for Christ the King Parish. There is a short pause at the beginning of the message, usually just a few seconds. Answer your phone as you normally would; hello and hold for the message to begin. Multiple hellos will delay the message. Inform all family members of this process who may answer your phone. The system will detect that your machine has answered and will play the recording to your machine. The maximum number of rings before hang-up is five. Make sure your machine answers after four rings or you may miss the message. At the end of the message you will be prompted to press one to hear the message again. This is very helpful when a child answers the phone and hands it to a parent, who can then repeat the message in its entirety. If you have this option and if you supply the church with your email address, you can be included in the email broadcasting service. They can then send a text message to you or even attach a .wav file of the message sent.

Page 12
GroupCast, the service provider, uses the best available technology in the industry to detect the difference between human answer and machine answer. Heres how detection works: 1. The system detects and measures the voice energy when the phone is answered. 2. The system measures this energy in combination with the background noise and line impairments. 3. If the system determines that it is a live answer it will immediately start playing the message. 4. If the system determines that it is a machine, it will wait for three full seconds of silence before playing the message with a maximum wait time of twenty seconds. 5. If the system cannot make a determination, it will default to answering machine thus requiring three seconds of silence for the message to play. In this case, you may hear a prompt to press any key to hear the message immediately. Some reasons for false detection: 1. Loud background noise; television, radio, general noisy environment. 2. A cordless phone that has static or other foreign noise. 3. Not saying hello or delaying saying hello. What can be done to remedy this? 1. Do not say hello more than once. If the system detected your answer incorrectly, all noise will reset the three-second counter. 2. If, after you answer, the message does not immediately play, cover the mouthpiece of the phone to cutout all background noise. The message should begin after three seconds.
