A Reading from the book of Wisdom The souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God, no torment shall ever touch them. In the eyes of the unwise they did appear to die, their going looked like a disaster, their leaving us, like utter destruction, but they are at peace. If they experienced punishment as we see it, their hope was rich with the promise of eternal life; slight was their affliction, great will their blessings be. God has put them to the test and proved them worthy to be with Him; He has tested them like gold in the furnace, and accepted them as a holocaust. They who trust in him will understand the truth; those who are faithful will live with him in love; for grace and mercy await those whom He has chosen. This is the Word of the Lord All: Thanks be to God! RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 125) Response: Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord. 9 2

Doxology and Great Amen: Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord. Lord, hear my voice! O let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleading. [R] If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt, Lord, who would survive? But with you is found forgiveness; For this we revere you [R] My soul is waiting for the Lord, I count on his word. My soul is longing for the Lord, More than watchmen for daybreak. [R] Because with the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption. Israel indeed he will redeem from all its iniquity. [R] GOSPEL VERSE (2 Tm. 2:11-12) (Alleluia! Alleluia!) If we die with Christ, we shall live with him, and if we are faithful to the end, we shall reign with him (Alleluia!) HOLY GOSPEL (John 14: 1-6) Priest: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John All: Glory to you, Lord! Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled Trust in God still and trust in me. There many rooms in my Father's house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too. You know the way to the place I am going." Thomas said, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me." 3 Priest: Through him, with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, forever and ever. All: Amen. COMMUNION RITE Lord's Prayer: Priest: Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Savior gave us. All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Priest: Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Sign of Peace: Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom where you live forever and ever. All: Amen. 8

Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you. When the supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me. Memorial Acclamation: Priest: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this lifegiving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit. Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love, together with Benedict XVI our Pope, (N.), our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember N., whom you have called from this life. In baptism he (she) died with Christ: may he (she) also share his resurrection.] Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence. Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of God, with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your Son, Jesus Christ. 7

This is the Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! Homily: PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL Priest: Let us pray with confidence to God, who gives life to all things, that he will welcome to his heavenly kingdom our beloved dead and all the departed ones. We also pray for ourselves, that the Lord will give us comfort and peace. With confidence, we pray: Lord, graciously hear us. God of all consolation, help us to comfort one another in our grief, finding light in time of darkness, and faith in time of doubt. We Pray to the Lord. Lord, graciously hear us. We pray for all those we have loved and have died. May the Lord give them the reward of their goodness. We Pray to the Lord. Lord, graciously hear us. May the prayers of Mary, the Mother of God, who stood by the cross as her son was dying, help those who mourn and be with all of us in our time of need. We Pray to the Lord. Lord, graciously hear us. We pray for all of us here today; that we may be prepared for the hour of our death, when God will call us by name, to pass from this world to the next. We Pray to the Lord. Lord, graciously hear us. Priest: God of Life, Jesus your Son suffered and died for us that he might give us fullness of life. Be our refuge and strength and lift us up from the darkness of grief to the peace and light of your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give You thanks, through Jesus Christ our Lord. In Him, Who rose from the dead, our hope of resurrection dawned. The sadness of death gives way to the bright promise of immortality. Lord, for Your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. And so, with all the choirs of angels in heaven we proclaim Your glory and join in their unending hymn of praise: All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness.
