Background The management of XYZ Company has for a long time been concerned by the poor work attitude of their staff. The workers seem disinterested in their jobs and absenteeism is high. You were appointed to conduct an employee attitude survey to look into the problem. All staff (N=310) participated in the survey. The survey data is in the file research method assignment data. Load the file from Blackboard. Each record/row represents one respondent feedback to the questionnaire survey. The variables of the survey are as follows: Variables Age Education Description Age of respondents Primary/Secondary/A-Level/Diploma/Bachelor/Masters & above Years of service with the company Measurement Scale Nominal Scale Nominal Ordinal Ordinal Ordinal

Years of Service Position Positions of respondents: Worker / Supervisor Organizational Organizational Commitment scale with 6 Likert-scale Commitment type statements (Total 6 questions from OC1 to OC6, each question scale from 1 to 5) Job Job Satisfaction scale with 10 Likert-scale type Satisfaction statements (Total 10 questions from JS1 to JS10, each question scale from 1 to 3) Work Stress Work Stress Scale

Use SPSS to apply appropriate statistical analysis of the data in response to the following tasks/questions: Task 1 (10 marks) Transform the statements of the following scales (summation of relevant statements) to form an overall measurement of the respective scales:

1. Organizational Commitment 2. Job Satisfaction

Task 2 (30 marks) 1. (a) Generate a bar chart to show the general level (mean) of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and work stress against respondents education. (5 marks) (b) Generate a summary table to show the general level (mean) of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and work stress by respondent education. (5 marks) (c) Illustrate the statistics with narrative descriptions. (5 marks) 2. (a) Generate a bar chart to depict the general level (mean) of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and work stress against respondents positions in the company (i.e. worker / supervisor). (5 marks) (b) Generate a summary table to show the general level (mean) of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and work stress by respondent position. (5 marks) (c) Illustrate the statistics with narrative descriptions. (5 marks) Task 3 (60 marks) The management wondered if the supervisors and the workers shared similar attitudes toward their jobs; such as job satisfaction, organizational commitment and work stress. (a) Use T-test to examine the significant differences between supervisors and workers in terms of (i) job satisfaction, (ii) organizational commitment and, (iii) work stress. (9 marks) (b) Based on the figures of (a) above, explain and discuss the findings (21 marks) (c) Discuss the relationships (i.e. direction, significance, and strength) between Job Satisfaction, Work Stress and Organizational Commitment. (25 marks) (d) Explain and discuss the implications for the management. (5 marks)
