Narrative Description of Firm

Dar SSH International Engineering Consultants wll (formerly Salem Al-Marzouk and Sabah Abi-Hanna) was established in 1961 as an architectural practice and since then has grown in size and extended its capability to become one of Kuwaits leading consulting firms providing services to public and private sector clients in Architecture, Engineering and Planning. The firm has its headquarters in Kuwait, Oman and an office in Abu Dhabi and has completed a wide range of projects locally and throughout the Middle East. In recent survey conducted by the World Architecture Magazine SSH was ranked fifty two in the world. SSH is registered in Kuwait with the Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Defense, the Kuwait Municipality and many private enterprises. SSH also carries a license to practice from the Municipality in Oman and the government of Abu Dhabi. The Firm is also registered with International and bi-lateral agencies such as the United Nations Development Programme, the International Road Federation, the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the Committee for Reconstruction and Development in Lebanon. SSH provides fully integrated planning, building design and project management services. It is a professional, independent and multi-disciplinary company with a highly-skilled, international staff. Nearly all SSH staff have professional or technical qualifications in the fields of planning and urban design, architecture and interior design, civil and structural engineering, quantity surveying, construction management, environmental planning, landscape architecture, graphic and computer applications. In its long history of practice SSH has undertaken, and successfully delivered a wide spectrum of projects. These range between short single-discipline architectural or engineering assignments, to lengthy, large scale projects which involve the assembly of an integrated team providing a full range of professional services. Directors
Sadoon Al-Essa joined SSH in 2003 and currently holds the position of Executive Partner. Sadoon previously worked at the Special Projects Administration at the Ministry of Public on the Amiri Diwan (Sief Palace) Project. After the successful handover of the project, he joined the Kuwait Real Estate Company in 2001 and subsequently Markets and Marketing Services Company where he held the position of Deputy Manager of the Engineering Department, following which he joined the Commercial Real Estate Company in the position of Deputy Manager of the Projects Department. With his solid experience in real estate development and in-depth experience in both the public and private sectors, Sadoon oversees the strategic management and business development of the Firm. George Abi-Hanna is the CEO of SSH. He joined the firm in 1984 and worked on the design and construction supervision of many major projects in the firm. He was appointed an Associate in 1990 and consequently undertook operational and project management responsibilities. In 1995 he was appointed a Director of SSH joining a board of four other Executive Directors. In 2003, and as a result of a restructuring of the Firm, he was appointed Managing Director and subsequently CEO, and currently manages the Firms entire operations. His main area of management responsibility is the commercial and professional aspects of the Firms operations. George holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and an MBA (Technology Management) degree from Deakin University and the Association of Professional Engineers and Scientists, Australia. He is a member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers and is registered as a Chartered Professional Engineer with the Institution of Engineers, Australia. George Abi-Hanna CEO
