ary Player es uno de los mejores jugadores de golf de la historia. Esta leyenda viva del deporte es, adems, un gran diseador de campos. El Parkland Course de Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa by Sotogrande es uno de sus ltimos proyectos. El Caballero Negro no quiso perderse su puesta en marcha y viaj hasta la bella Sicilia para inaugurar el campo, dar una divertida clase magistral, y demostrar que con el micrfono es tan bueno como con los palos. La historia del golf no se podra escribir sin narrar la vida de Gary Player, uno de los grandes hitos de esta disciplina. En su trayectoria, el jugador se ha alzado con 164 torneos de golf profesionales en el mundo, incluyendo los nueve mayores torneos de PGA Tour y Champions Tour. Adems, es el tercer hombre que consigui hacerse con el codiciado Gran Slam (despus de Ben Hogan y Gene Sarazen) cuando gan el US Open en 1965. ary Player is one of the best golf players of all time. This living sporting legend is also a great course designer. The Parkland Course at the Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa by Sotogrande is one of his latest projects. The Black Knight did not want to miss its opening and he travelled to the beautiful island of Sicily to inaugurate the course, offer a fun master class and demonstrate that he is as good with the microphone as he is with the clubs. The history of golf could not be written without a chapter on the life of Gary Player, one of the greats of this sport. In his playing career he won 164 professional golf tourname nts around the world, including the nine biggest tournaments on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. He was also the third player to achieve the coveted Grand Slam (after Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen) when he won the US Open in 1965. Since then, only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have joined this elite group.

Off the course, Player also has an unsurpassed track record, which includes over 40 years in the golf course design business and a portfolio of over 300 courses around the world. His projects include the recently opened north course at the Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa by Sotogrande. To officially inaugurate the course, Gary Player travelled to the resort to enjoy its facilities, offer an enjoyable class to those present, give out advice on playing technique and, above all, show everyone what a great man he is. Player bedazzled everyone lucky enough to meet him at Donnafugata with his anecdotes, jokes, exuberance, imposing physique, great oratory and philosophy on life.

The great golfer did not just present the new course, correct peoples stances, describe Jack Nicklaus as the best sportsman in the world, insist on the importance of looking after ones body (at 76 years of age he goes to the gym every day for at least two hours) and explain the secret of a good stroke; the South African also sent out some more meaningful messages. Player is a philanthropist, and thanks to his efforts, through golf-related charity activities, over 30 million dollars have been raised for educating the underprivileged children that his foundation works with. With the visit from this star of the golf world, one of the courses that make up the Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa by Sotogrande was officially opened. Gary Play himself described this exceptional parkland course that he created as the perfect setting for a great day of golf.
