STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My desire to attend the Masters program stems from a realization that my undergraduate study was only a stepping-stone in my career in the field of Computers. An undergraduate course, though comprehensive in its curriculum, provides limited scope for specialization. Much of the integration of advanced technologies in any demanding field takes place in a graduate program. It has always been my goal to pursue graduate studies in this highly intriguing field. In view of the ever-changing Industrial scenario and the shift towards globalization of economies, a post graduate qualification from a reputed university along with the international exposure it provides would come in good stead for anyone aspiring for meaningful and rapid career advancement in the Industry. Hence, keeping in view my special interest in the subject and as a means to enhance my career prospects, I have decided to pursue a career in this direction. Four years of undergraduate study at Koneru Lakshmaiah college of Engineering deepened my interest for computers. The various courses I took at the undergraduate level gave me an insight into the fascinating world of computers. The rigorous curriculum of our undergraduate program covered a wide range of subjects from mathematics, computers and electronics. It included courses on probability and statistics, discrete mathematics, calculus, logic design, digital electronics, microprocessors, systems programming, compiler construction, computer organization, computer architecture, database concepts, operating systems, computer networks and graphics, design and analyses of algorithms besides intensive laboratory work. Besides learning all these subjects as per my curriculum to keep myself abreast of all technologies I also learned Java and .Net. My term paper on my 6th semester was done on ROBOTICS under the guidance of Mr. V.Srikanth. However, due to time constraints and vastness of syllabus, an in-depth analysis of my area of interest was not possible. As per the curriculum we have to do a project in our final semester, for this we implemented a system that automatically arranges the student ids attending the semester examinations in a random way, which in past was done manually in our college, as there is possibility of flaws. We automated the system by using the .Net as front end and Oracle as back end. And I led the team taking the leader role. I wish to make a career move in the field of Computers. I foresee it as one in which there is a lot of promise. The ever increasing needs of the populace in todays global village highlights the crucial role that a Comp. Engineer will have to play in the coming years. Change is a fundamental technical constant. In todays rapidly changing environment a person must have considerable expertise in order to keep pace with the developments at the cutting edge of

technology. The institutions in India have yet to achieve the level of sophistication of those in advanced western countries, the USA in particular. I wish to pursue my Graduate studies in a different environment altogether. Studying in America is to encounter diversity of culture, thought, attitude, lifestyle and approach. That to me is the most important form of education. The universities in the US offer an environment conducive to learning and I would like to contribute to the educational infrastructure by sharing the qualities and knowledge that I have gained from my education in India. From your website I understood that the university provides enormous opportunities for personal and professional growth and it embodies the qualities of my ideal university. The high esteem with which your college is held within academic circles coupled with the cosmopolitan nature of your campus are other reasons why I am applying for admission at your highly putative university. I am sure that your university with its vast opportunities will give a boost to the morale of a thinking student who analyzes a problem in depth and offers a solution unmindful of what has been didactically handed down. This boost to creative thinking can open up latent avenues, diverging from oft-established concepts, creating new ideas, and new theories and providing new answers. I want to acquire competence in the discipline chosen and acquire it in depth. I want to hone my intellectual faculties the journey promises to be a challenging one. It may no doubt be demanding and arduous at times, but then the thrill one gets when one discovers something new at the frontiers of human knowledge, however small the contribution may be, is unparalleled.
