The five biggest deathbed regrets

Would you have any regrets? According to Australian nurse Bronnie Ware, many of us leave this world wishing we'd done things differently - and not by working harder or making more money. Ware's book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying chronicles her experiences caring for patients with 12 weeks or less to live. "When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again," Ware wrote on her blog. Here are the top five regrets she encountered: 1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. 2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard. 3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings. 4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends. 5. I wish that I had let myself be happier. From self confessed workaholic. Plus making a fool of myself and being a dick when I was younger haha. And not finishing things ..... i should really get over it and grow some .... and stick to plans. Julie #95 08:50 am Feb 05 2012 My biggest regret would be letting Fear get in the way of what I do and don't do. I work daily to overcome this. I work hard, I play hard, I do the best I can, for where I'm at in my life now. I ask God to forgive me of the wrongs I've done and I wake up everyday Thanking and Praising Him that I am given this time on earth. Working hard to make a difference in the lives of people, one person at a time. Rory #94 09:52 pm Feb 04 2012 I wish I had told the love of my life 3 years ago, when she was in a terrible situation and I was without a job, that I wanted the child she was pregnant with to me. I'll never forgive myself for not telling her I wanted her and the baby with all my heart.

All the best. craig #90 09:38 am Feb 04 2012 My Dad is dying of aspestosis and we were talking about this very thing. besides contractioning that very deadly thing while serving his country(N.Z)and the unwillingness of our Government to compensate him, He had no regrets about his life saying only he has had a full life bobby turua #89 07:20 am Feb 04 2012 I wish I'd loved more of myself than spend it on everyone else! klif #88 via mobile 04:35 am Feb 04 2012 I only 25 and i say live ur life to the filliest have as much fun as you want embras happy day..cause life u long yet so shorta Cal #87 04:03 am Feb 04 2012 People with no regrets are either stubornly kidding themselves to keep up appearences to everyone else, psychotic, or must have lead remarkably easy lives. Regret isn't necessarily "being stuck in the past", it's just an admission that you've made a mistake. Regret - if you learn from it - is good. Having just returned from a farewell dinner I have come to regret not seeing my friends more often, when I should have made more of an effort. The good thing is I had learned from this and I will make sure I don't repeat the same mistake next time. Ad Feedback Show 37-86 of 96 comments
