Ross, Differential Equations, 3rd edition, WILEY Publishers. 2) Richard Bronson, Differential Equations, 2nd edition, Mc Graw Hill publishers 3) Kreyszig.E. Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Wayne and Erson. COURSE PURPOSE: The purpose of this course is: (a) To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematics and its applications in engineering. (b) To improve their ability of student to think critically and to analyze a problem to solve it. Course Objectives The objectives are to understand the following topics and to be able to apply these concepts to solve application problems First order differential equations, slope fields, numerical solution methods and the basic analytical solution methods: separation of variables, solving exact equations, solving linear equations, and substitution methods. Higher order linear differential equations, both homogeneous and nonhomogeneous with methods of reduction of order, undetermined coefficients, and variation of parameters. Systems of linear differential equations, phase portraits, numerical solution methods and analytical solution methods: using eigenvalues and eigenvectors and using systematic elimination. Use of the LaPlace transform Course Outcomes

Upon completing this course students should be able to: Solve first-order separable and linear differential equations, and use these methods to solve applied problems. Solve higher-order constant-coefficient linear differential equations and systems of differential equations, and use these methods to solve applied problems. Find Laplace transforms and inverse transforms, and apply these to solve differential equations.

TOPICS COVERED: 1- Differential Equations First order and higher order differentials equations of engineering applications. The D-operator, complementary function and particular integral.
