This document shows hot to create a new flight plan using the CDU. 1

Creating Flight Plan Step 1

Ensure the IGI is completely aligned. Once aligned set the PAGE knob to WAYPT. Then press LSK L2; WAYPOINT.

Use the CDU buttons (or UFC) to enter your desired name for your waypoint.

The example here is for the COBRA bombing range.

Press LSK R1 to enter name for this waypoint.

Enter Lat coordinates using CDU (or UFC) keyboard.

For this example the Lat coordinates are 42 40 20.5 N. The CDU does not use seconds so you need to divide 20.5by 60. 20.5/60= .3146 (round up to 342)

When entering into the CDU you would enter it as: 4240342.

Press LSK L3 to enter previously entered coordinates.

Enter Long coordinates using CDU (or UFC) keyboard.

Same formula is used for Long coordinates as was used for Lat coordinates on page 6. Make sure you put a 0 before the coordinates. For example, the coordinates input here were 42 61 7.8 which computes to 04206130

Press LSK L4 to enter previously entered coordinates. You can adjust the waypoint elevation by entering a number on the keypad then pressing LSK L2.

Once finished press LSK R3 to create your next waypoint. Continue these steps until youve created all your known waypoints.

Set the PAGE knob to OTHER.

Press FPM to bring up Flight Plan screen.

Then enter the name of the flight plan using the CDU (or UFC). Press LSK L4 to create new Flight Plan

Press LSK L2 to select if the waypoints will automatically (AUTO) change or be changed manually (MAN).

Press LSK R2 (FPBUILD) to begin adding waypoints to the new flight plan.

Use the CDU (or UFC) to type the name of your first waypoint. This is normally your current location.

Once entered click LSK L2.

Continue the process until all your waypoints have been entered. Ensure you enter them in the desired order for your flight plan. If you have more than three waypoints you will have to use the PG down button to continue adding.

Once all your waypoints are entered switch the STEER PT knob to FLT PLAN.

Press LSK R1 to select Steerpoint.

You should now see your new flight plan displayed on the TAD.
