Giving Back to the Community

In addition to your Clubs regular activities of which there seems to be more and more of as time goes on, thanks to your continued support, there are occasionally special things that occur which just leaves one with a warm feeling. Fred and Jean Schroeder, here from Connecticut on a visit, watched five young students aged 10 to 12 totally immersed in one of the Clubs bi-weekly bird walks. So taken aback by the kids enthusiasm, Fred and Jean purchased Club t-shirts for them. The look on the kids faces was unforgettable. Fred and Peggy Sibley arrived soon after and stayed, as did the Schroeders, at Judy Richardsons Pino Colina. They also twigged to the youngsters enthusiasm and subsequently made a donation to the Club to purchase three Birds of Costa Rica reference books for the students one of which will be used as a library loaner at Finca Cntaros. Devolviendo a la Comunidad
Aparte de las actividades regulares de su Club, de las que parece que hay ms y ms con el paso del tiempo gracias a su continuo apoyo, ocasionalmente hay cosas especiales que ocurren que lo dejan a uno con un clido sentimiento. Fred y Jean Schroeder, visitando desde Connecticut, vieron a cinco estudiantes, entre 10 y 12 aos de edad, totalmente inmersos en una de las caminatas quincenales del Club. Desconcertados por el entusiasmo de los

nios, Fred y Jean compraron t-shirts del Club para ellos. La mirada en la cara de los nios es inolvidable. Fred y Peggy Sibley llegaron poco despus e, igual que los Schroeder, se hospedaron en Pino Colina de Judy Richardson. Ellos tambin admiraron el entusiasmo de los jvenes, e hicieron una donacin al Club para comprar tres libros de Aves de Costa Rica para los estudiantes, uno de los cuales se prestara como uso de biblioteca en Finca Cntaros. En nuestro boletn de enero incluimos el artculo sobre el viaje de dos de nuestros

miembros locales-Pablo Elizondo y Danny Ruiz-a un simposio sobre aves en El Salvador, pero no mencionamos que esto no hubiera sido posible sin la generosa asistencia de Kate Desvenain, Monique Girard, Julie Girard, Gail y Harry Hull, Linda Morgens, Alison y Michael Olivieri, Judy Richardson, Jean y Fred Schroeder, Patricia Scott, Lydia y Ernie Vogt, y Linda y Doug Wilson.
