Dear Ms Dugdale
Chalmers Sexual Health Centre

Thank you for. your letter of 15 December 2011, received in my office on 19 December 2011. I was sorry to learn of your concerns and I passed your letter to Mr Robert Aitken, Edinburgh Community Health Partnership (CHP) Acting General Manager as he has operational management responsibility for the Chalmers Sexual Health Clinic and asked him to investigate this matter and my report is based on the information provided. Mr Aitken informs me that general advice to the public is that they should contact their General Practitioner (GP) Surgery to access a free Flu Vaccination. Mr Aitken advised me that Chalmers Sexual Health Clinic has in the past had a small stock of vaccine should they be required for any a patient, such as those with HIV/AIDS who may not want to involve their GP. I am advised by Mr Aitken that in future when supplies of Flu vaccine become available, the service will inform all patients that this is something that is routinely provided by their GP, however, if they do not have a GP or their GP is unaware of their HIV status, then they will be able to get their Flu Vaccination at Chalmers Sexual Health Clinic. Mr Aitken also advised that Flu Vaccination is available at Community Pharmacists; however this service will incur a fee. Mr Aitken has confirmed, due to damage sustained as a result of vandalism to the sign outside the Chalmers Sexual Health Clinic, an opportunity has arisen to review the name of the clinic on the signage in conjunction with our Communications Department. Mr Aitken has informed me that as previously a number of stakeholders are being consulted to decide on the appropriate wording. I am advised by Mr Aitken that Chalmers Dental

Hospital situated opposite will also be consulted, to ensure patients will be able to distinguish clearly between the two services. Mr Aitken will conclude these consultations by the end of March 2012 and the new signage will then be erected. I trust this addresses the issues you have raised. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely
