Xenon Platform
Xenon Architecture
Xenon has a modular architecture as illustrated below (simplified), each module acting as a plug and play component in the system as a whole.
Xenon Components
Each Xenon component provides a unique function
in the platform: Xenon Streamer (XSS) Delivers live and VOD streams to mobile handsets. Refer to the XSS product sheet for a full description
Key Features
Stream live and VOD content in popular formats including H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, AMR, AMR-WB, AAC, HE-AAC (v.1 and v.2), and Windows Media Compatible with all 3GPP and 3GPP2-compliant handsets Dynamic Bit-rate Adaptation (DBA) optimizes stream quality on-the-fly Fast Channel Switching (FCS) enables fast, seamless switching between live channels Server-side playlists for advert insertion and music playlist streaming Bookmark streams (return to a saved point automatically) Encode live content from capture cards, file or IP input (Windows Media and IPTV) Works with standard DVB-H and Mobile TV broadcast equipment Overlay images and text onto videos in real-time Powerful and simple billing interfaces (SOAP / HTTP)
Xenon Proxy and Cache (XCP) Proxy and cache content from remote streaing servers. This enables content stored remotely to be delivered close to the network edge, and caching decreases the bandwidth requirements between the content provider and the operator Xenon Live Encoder (XLE) Encodes live feeds (capture card, file or IP input) into popular mobile formats such as H.264 and AAC, to be streamed to handsets using a server such as Xenon Streamer. Refer to the XLE product sheet for a full description
Xenon Components
Xenon Live Relay (XLR) Relays live content from remote XLE modules to multiple streaming servers. Can also relay RTSP streams from remote Darwin and Helix servers to a Xenon cluster Xenon Offline Encoder (XOE) Encodes file-based source content into mobile-ready VOD files to be downloaded or streamed. Refer to the XOE product sheet for a full description Xenon Admin Centre (XAC) Provides a single point of management for the entire Xenon Platform, per forming tasks such as system administration, configuration, monitoring and content generation Xenon Module Supervisor (XMS) Monitoring to ensure each module is running correctly Xenon Service Broker (XSB) A plug-in framework for integration with back-end systems such as authorization, billing, and a web portal. XSB provides some built-in service logic such as per-perview and subscription billing functions Xenon Windows Media (XWM) Delivers Windows Media streams from the Xenon Platform, so that a single system can deliver both standard 3GPP and Windows Media formats For a full range of configuration and licensing options, please contact a Vidiator sales representative for more information.
