1) Architectural style constitutes a mode of classifying architecture largely by morphological characteristics in terms of form, techniques, materials, etc.

However it is not a holistic way of understanding architectural works because of its emphasis on style. It overlaps with and emerges from the study of the evolution and history of architecture but it is slightly different in its emphasis. While in architectural history, the study of, for instance, Gothic architecture would include all the aspects of the cultural context that went into the making of architectural works, architectural style is a way of classifying architecture that gives emphasis to the characteristic features of Gothic architecture, leading to a terminology such as Gothic style. This could then apply equally to buildings even produced during periods outside the historic period of Gothic architecture. Thus one could build a Gothic style church even today irrespective of the historic period from which the style emerged. 2) Post and lintel is a simple, rectilinear arch design. The posts are the upright supports and the lintel is the top crossbeam. There are two main forces acting upon the post and lintel: compression and tension. The two posts or beams are under compression. The underside of the lintel is under tension, while the topside is under compression. Three examples are the Parthenon, the Capitol Building, and Collisieum The arch developed from the post and lintel system as an improvement in the system. With the arch the opening between the posts can be larger. The lintels back then were weak and made only out of stone and the posts had to be close together in order to support the weight. The arch was a new idea that were stronger and more veristle than the post and lintel system. 3) Seprate Sheet 4) The European Countries that had the most influence on the Early American Architecture was England, France, Spain, and Italy. Italian Architecture Low-pitched roofs of ceramic tile Windows or balconies open into a loggia 5) Contemporary Architecture is a modern style of architecture that has just recently developed with new materials. A contemporary style house would look a little out of place next to a Cape cod style house. There would be flat roofs a and big windows that would show the interior of the house. The house would also have stucco siding since the style itself was influenced by the Spanish and the Italian. The house would not have the typical rectangular floor plan and would not have a symmetrical floor plan. I would consider a house like this to be contemporary because it fits no other style and it is made up of lighter and new materials. The house would also be a fusion of Spanish and Italian styles of Architecture. 6) From the styles of the unit I would chose contemporary for a few different reasons. The first advantage is that the house would be designed to fit my needs and would be safer than a normal house would be because of the materials that make it up. The only disadvantage would probably be the cost because of the materials that the builder might use in the construction.
