Introduc tion
For more than 30 years, PVC membranes have opened their way to all waterproofing sectors, thanks to their many advantages, such as flexibility and strong tearing resistance, combined with superior welding ability, low safety risks, ease of Installation and excellent whole life costs. The Cefil range of waterproofing products have a long and successful history, produced under strict ISO9001 quality control standards. Cefil synthetic waterproofing membranes have been specifically developed to achieve a fast, sustainable, durable environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing waterproofing solution. Over 7.000.000 sqm of Cefil membranes are produced and distributed yearly by Ceplastik. Carefully selected polyester and glass reinforcements are coated on each side by a superior blended PVC flexible plasticiser. These reinforcements considerably improve stability, strength, puncture resistance and long term durability. The result is a homogeneous high quality flexible membrane. Cefil waterproofing membranes are available in a range of formats to suit almost any type of waterproofing concept for a building or structure. These formats can be broken down in to 4 main categories: o o o o RP Mechanically fixed self protected systems RV Fully adhered self protected systems ECO-ROOF - Green roof systems Inverted roof systems with additional protection.
These categories are all available in a range of colours with associated accessories to complete any architectural concept and to offer a complete warranted system for the most discerning of clients. This brochure has been prepared to assist specifiers and Contractors in selecting the most appropriate products from the range available.
Over 7.000.000 sqm of Cefil membranes are produced and distributed yearly.
3.
WATERTIGHT - Cefil membranes, when correctly heat welded, homogenise together to become one at molecular level. Therefore the join is at least as strong as the membrane itself with no weak points. The membrane has been rigorously tested for moisture resistance, behaviour under hydrostatic pressure and impact strength, and classed as leakproof. Under the European standard peel test, the Cefil membrane broke outside of the seam without any sign of weld failure.
4.
FLEXIBILITY - Cefil membranes have all been produced to comply with the needs of todays buildings with regard to structural and building movement. They are dimensionally stable and will repeatedly accommodate normal structural movement without fatigue. Low temperature flexibility has been tested down to -35 degrees C.
5.
SUSTAINABILITY - Cefil membranes have been rigorously tested by many European testing establishments and have a proven successful history of providing long term waterproofing to a variety of building designs. The product life expectancy is documented as in excess of 20 years and laboratory accelerated weathering tests have shown this to be even greater. Cefil materials are installed Worldwide in a variety of climatic extremes and show superior performance and durability - a crucial element of environmental sustainability.
6.
GUARANTEE - Extensive roof assured warranty schemes are available that a client can trust for up to 10 years. Under correct installation conditions Cefil membranes have 10 years guarantee against any production fault.
7.
QUALITY - Cefil membranes are produced strictly in accordance with ISO9001 quality standards. The calandering & lamination process is computerised to ensure consistent quality and all raw materials randomly tested prior to integration and development.

8.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY - Cefil synthetic membranes are produced in line with the ISO14001 environmental management system. This policy covers development, Raw materials, Production, Distribution, Installation, Service and recycling. The product provides a healthy long life expectancy and can be recycled at the end of its useful roofing life. Assembly and seam welding is rapid with a low energy output and the membranes lightweight construction minimises transport energy. Cefil products therefore represent a minimum burden on the environment, from conception to completion.
9.
SAFETY - Cefil membranes are fast and easy to install and offer significant reductions in relation to risk with many alternative roofing systems. To compliment the membrane, all specifications are Safety conscious with the integration of polyurethane glues (CFC & HCFC free) and even self-adhesive Vapour barriers to avoid the use of hot bitumen boilers. This provides peace of mind to building owners and Installers and achieved preferred system status with some leading building Insurance underwriters.
10. AESTHETICS - Cefil roofing membranes come in standard light grey and lead grey. However, alternative colours are available on order request, blue, green, beige and red. All colours are tested for Colourfastness under UV and Sunlight accelerated procedures to ensure long term aesthetic performance.
11. TECHNICAL SUPPORT - Ceplastik can offer everything a specifier or building owner will need. Our team are available throughout the project to ensure complete client satisfaction.

Cefil RP is cross reinforced with a woven high tensile polyester carrier and has been specifically developed to absorb repeated stress and deformation, a vital characteristic for long term durability of mechanically fixed systems. The product is engineered to withstand severe wind loads and the most extreme weather conditions. Cefil RP is normally installed as a complete system, including vapour barrier, Insulation and ancillary products to meet current building regulations and client specifics. The installation method comprises of the laying out of 1 or 2m wide Cefil RP, with specialised fixings located near the side lap and
overlapped by adjacent sheets. The laps are subsequently heat welded using semi automatic hot air welding equipment to form a homogeneous joint at the seam. On this type of systems, the fixings utilised are high quality corrosion resistant incorporating a unique telescopic tube fastener. This tube provides a higher wind uplift performance and practically eliminates cold bridging. Further advantages of the tube washer system are that no damage occurs to the interface between threaded fastener and deck if a load is applied on the washer; neither can the head fastener protrude through the waterproofing layer.

To enable superior performance of fully adhered single ply waterproofing, the carrier is required to provide different movement characteristics. A glass fibre mat is used, which is coated on both sides with plastisol. Cefil RV1 and RV2 are highly resistant to low and high temperatures and can easily accommodate cyclic structural movement whilst maintaining durability and flexibility in a bonded format. Cefil RV1 and RV2 membranes are particularly suitable for roofs where mechanical fixing is not desirable, such as a Profiled metal decking with a powder coated underside as the finished product or certain types of concrete deck. It is also semi permeable to water vapour, and therefore provides an ideal solution to roof areas where interstitial condensation is
considered a higher risk than usual (e.g. over swimming pools). Cefil RV1 and RV2 are normally installed as a complete system, including vapour barrier, Insulation and ancillary products. The installation method comprises of the laying out of 1 or 2m wide rolls with side and end overlaps of subsequent membrane, applied with an even coat of Cefil Membrane Adhesive to the membrane and to the surface that it is being applied to, i.e. deck or insulation. The laps are subsequently heat welded using semi automatic hot air welding equipment to form a homogeneous joint at the seam. In inverted or ballasted roof format, Cefil RV can be loose laid and laps subsequently welded.

Extensive o
System Description Green roofing with a thin growing medium requiring minimal maintenance and usually no Irrigation. The vegetation use is resilient and forms a carpet like self-sustaining plant community on the roof. The Cefil Extensive ECO-ROOF system is available as a sedum mat or plug and plant (pre germinated sedum), substrate based roof. Extensive ECO-ROOF systems are much lighter than Intensive and are available for application to Timber and Metal decks as lightweight green roof solutions.
Sedum mats are supplied with a selection of sedum plants including Lydium, Hybrium, Album, Acre, Reflexum, Sexangulare and Spurium which are already cultivated on to a root retention/ substrate layer. The varieties are carefully selected to provide colour and variety throughout the year and offer an instant greening of the roof finish. The root retention/ substrate comprises a coir-backed membrane with polypropylene mesh for strength, crushed lava rock and specially formulated soil compound. NB: Sedum blankets require the minimum of long-term maintenance. Intensive o
System Description Green roofing with a deep growing medium which can sustain Plants, shrubs, planters, trees, paving and turf. Intensive ECO-ROOF requires artificial irrigation and should be treated like any garden with regular maintenance and care. The Intensive ECO-ROOF solutions are the heavier of the two systems due to soil depth and therefore extra structural design is required to sustain the saturated weight and imposed loadings to a building.
