furniture selected works 1997-2011

PREFACE
contemporary design is vast landscape of new forms and ideas. every year seems to bring about an abundant number of fresh products to the market. however, large parts of contemporary furniture design are never commercialised or industrially produced. still, we are often influenced by this type of work. for the casual observer, the images of prototypes can be as real as any commercialised designs. some of these prototypes even becomes design-icons in their own right. of the so-called icons that are manufactured, many do not have any significant commercial success. and for some of them, success can come years, if not decades, later. presenting furniture on different occasions since 1998, most of my designs have been popular with the press, the public and private clients. i have yet to produce my design industrially in great numbers, yet i still experience welcomed interest from the public whenever i present my work. some of the attention might be out of pure politeness, as many are friends, but somehow i also believe that my research for spatial qualities and intelligible concepts are compelling to the public. generally, i find that most people are surprisingly capable and thrilled to virtually explore and visualise the furniture according to their own appreciation of space. this interest motivates me to pursue my work and further distribute my designs. it is said that the way ahead takes a look back. this portfolio represents not only a retrospection of my past and present production, but at the same time a prospect of my upcoming projects.
