ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER for WYOMINGS OUT-OF-OPTIONS FURKIDS

February 20, 2012

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

URGENT - Casper, WY Contact: Cathy Corbin at 307-267-6524 or rescuerangers2@yahoo.com JEFFREY is an Aussie mix, 3 years old. Okay everybody, dont you think Im in the top ten of exceptionally cute dogs? Im a very happy boy who likes people of all ages February 6, 2012 and other dogs, plus, Im housebroken and I like car rides, living inside, and going for walks! I dont jump fences, Im quiet and as sweet as can be, and I like playing with other dogs. In fact, you would never know I am blind because I can get around as well as any other dog. Im not positive, but I think I can see shadows. I find my way around any environment very quickly, and when I discover another dog, all I want to do is play with that dog. So, you see, if I hadnt told you I have a vision issue, its very likely you would never know it as you watch me go! Im looking for a new home where I will be loved and cared for. I hope and pray someone will open their heart to me and come adopt me. I will love you forever! BOUZER is a Chocolate Lab mix, 1 year old. I enjoy being outside and going for a walk. l like people and other dogs. Im a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky type of guy who is always up for some play time. Whether it is with people or other dogs Im always ready to go play or go for a walk! Ill bet I would like going for jogs and runs, too. I am a fun dog with lots of personality and I enjoy being with people and getting pets and loves. Im looking for a new home I hope it will be with you! ACE is a Boxer, 1-1/2 years old. Im a beautiful boxer guy who is looking for a second chance. I am quite playful, and will try to do zoomies, even if I am on leash. I will do my best to engage other dogs and people in play. I enjoy going for walks which can be of any distance. I am quiet and calm both in and out of the cage. Ive been told I am very handsome and regal. I hope a family will think that, too, and give me a new life. Im waiting at the pound! BELLA is a Pittie mix, 7 months old. I am hoping someone will read my story and find me irresistible. Since I came into the pound, I have learned how to be slip leashed, although I am still working on that skill. I have also learned to walk on leash, and find it to be fun to go for a walk. Another thing I like is to have people sit and talk to me and pet me thats heavenly! Im young, and Im ready for someone to teach me lots of commands and tricks. Then I can really show off how cute I can be. Please come meet me and lets see if we can become a family!

e-WOOF spotlights many

dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted.

These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting e-WOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part---while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support FOR THE

DYLAN

DYLAN is a handsome 8-year-old Black Lab who is neutered, up to date on all shots, and microchipped! He was brought to the AVHS as an owner surrender and has been lingering here for some time now. He is an older guy but you would never be able to guess it! He loves to play fetch and run around all day having all kinds of doggie adventures only to curl up with his loved ones at the end of a long day. He has lived with both cats and dogs and has done great with both but should probably live in a home with older children as he has been known to have a history of seizures which is kept under control with medicine. Dylan still has lots of life and love to give and deserves to have a forever home of his own. _____________________________________________ Black Dog Animal Rescue -- Cheyenne, WY Contact: 307-214-6600 or bdar@bdar.org SCOUT: I am a very sweet 7 year old female Border Collie mix.
I have a great personality and can be both silly and affectionate. I like other dogs, especially ones my size or smaller and am great with cats too! I prefer a home where my person might be home with me more often than not and would rather stay busy around the house than go traipsing around town. Im a homebody, and a very sweet one. Wont you let me keep you company?

SCOUT

JAKE: Im a big and beautiful Shepherd or Lab and Great Dane mix! Ive already had quite a lot of training in my foster home and have learned several commands and how to walk on a Gentle Leader. I am crate and house trained. I love other dogs and would like to have an energetic playmate. Im a bit insecure sometimes so Id be best in a home with no kids and a more experienced owner who can continue my training and help build my confidence. I love my toys and can most often be found with a rope toy or Kong in my mouth! _________________________________________

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! If there is a dog featured in this newsletter that you want to foster, PLEASE CONTACT US! Many dogs just need a temporary place to go to be safe. E-MAIL US AT:

Good News!
Here are a couple of updates that we LOVE to be able to put in e-WOOF
From Christina: A Happy Ending for sure! We had a man come in a couple weeks ago with a cat in a carrier to drop off. He said it had been living under his mobile home and he was tired of it. We checked it for a microchip and it is one of ours that was adopted out. We called the owner and she and her daughter came right up. Turns out the cat went missing in OCTOBER!!!! They had looked and looked and one day found a pile of white hair and they thought an owl or something had gotten the kitty. They even gave away all the food bowls, scratch posts, etc., thinking their kitty was dead. They were VERY happy to get her back!! From Sherry: Around Christmas we featured a dog named Libby Joy. She was from Crossroads Vet Clinic in Glenrock, and she was given to Tempest Critter Rescue in Casper. She has been in foster care there since Christmas. On Thursday this week Lindsey Tempest changed her Profile photo on Facebook and put Libby in the photo....she alternates her dogs in and out of that particular square. Well, someone she knew from way back in high school saw the photo and recognized Libby Joy as their pup who disappeared from their yard more than a year ago. (Libby is an escape artist!) They contacted Lindsey via Facebook and arranged a meeting. I guess it was a done deal from the first second.... Libby recognized her former owners immediately and did one of those happy Libby Joy featured in e-WOOF December 2011 dance/seizure happiness....went crazy, ballistic, delerious, jumped all over everyone! It was the Mom and a high school girl who picked her up from Lindseys ....and lo and behold, the Moms had not seen one another since high school. Guess the dog had been advertised as missing....they put posters all over, called all the vets, watched the shelters, dog ended up in Glenrock somehow. Another HAPPY ENDING!!

GRIZZ
Grizz was a German Shepherd featured in our January 9th eWOOF issue. He was transported by Sherry and Christina to his new home. He had been living outside on a chain because the other two dogs in the home would beat up on him if inside. We were horrified by the collar he wore. He is now living a much happier life in Montana!

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States. He is a former Congressman from the state of Illinois. He is the first president to be killed by an assasssin. Scholars rate him one of the greatest Presidents in United States history.

TRANSPORTERS NEEDED...If you can help drive a dog to safety, please join our transporters list. For more information on volunteering please e-mail to ewoof@wyoming.com We welcome volunteers from all states.

We first started to look for another dog about 1 year ago. We wanted another compainion for our aging Rottweiler. We had seen another dog on Petfinder.com that I contacted Tina at eWOOF about. He was a young shepherd who looked like something we would like. But alas, it didnt pan out. He was sent out to Colorado to a GSD rescue. Tina then contacted me about Griz. My husband and I were looking forward to meeting him. We had some ugly weather and were hoping our meeting would still go through. On a Tuesday, we started down to Wyoming. We got down there and met Tina and Grizz. OH, BOY, it was love at first sight! My 4 year old daughter was so excited. Tina had then showed us his collar that he had on him while he was chained out in his yard...it looked like a tow chain to pull a vehicle! We got the boy home and one word--WOW!!! He met up with our Rottie Tasha and it was a typical meeting; sniffing and walking around each other but otherwise it went well. We brought him into our house and he walked around looking, sniffing, and then out to the back yard to do his business. That night I put him in a kennel for the night to keep him calm and I wasnt sure how he would behave at night. He whined a bit then calmed down and slept all night. He only slept in his kennel that one night because he has made his spot on my side of the bed. He has been a dream of a dog for us. Our daughter climbs on him and plays tug as well as ball. He loves her and has bonded with her completely. Tasha and he love to play. He has made her a lot more active and wanting to play. He came trained, as well as housebroken. We had my husbands friend come over to meet him. He is a lieutenant with the Sheriffs Department here in Yellowstone County. He is also in charge of the K-9 Unit and a prior dog handler. He was pretty happy with him! He would like to get him doing some tracking work as well as drug dectection. He needs a job to keep him out of mischief! So early in the spring we will start with the tracking. He fell into our hands and we are so happy with him. He has the perfect attitude for our family. I am so greatful for everyone who was involved in his rescue.
