Un jardn de sueo o pesadilla: Bomarzo

A una hora y media, ms o menos de Roma y muy cerca de la localidad de Viterbo, que sin duda merece otro paseo, llegar a Bomarzo exige al turista confianza en que lo que va a ver merece la pena. Y desde luego al cruzar el umbral del recinto uno descubre uno de esos jardines por los que ha pasado el tiempo, lo que aporta a la caminata un encanto adicional. Pero an hay ms, porque entre los arbustos el viajero ve aparecer el cuerpo fornido en piedra del semidis griego Heracles, sujetando boca-abajo a un derrotado Caco. Un poco ms all, una descomunal tortuga y casi dispuestas a mordernos las fauces de un ser marino en la cascada del arroyo que da frescura al entorno. Bomarzo es lo que promete, horror, pero tambin sorpresa. El estrambtico parque manierista concebido por el duque de Orsini es todo un capricho, una coleccin de encuentros a la vuelta de la esquina. Al penetrar en los recorridos del Bosque de los monstruos, el viajero tropieza con una esfinge, figura femenina alada, cargada esta vez de un enigma casi para cada escultura: el dragn, el imponente Neptuno, una sensual mujer desperezndose, etc., entre labernticos jardines, teatros, templetes y fantasmagricos salones en piedra, listos para que desciendan por sus escaleras los invitados. Divertimentos del duque, quiz para cautivar a sus huspedes, jugando con ellos, en los caminos serpenteantes que se cruzan y de donde surgen seres descabellados como ese elefante sometiendo a un soldado con su trompa. No deje de estar alerta, porque quiz de esa pared en la que se apoy para hacer un alto en el camino brote un rostro horrendo que le haga seguir presuroso su ruta! Porque en Bomarzo la cordura y el sentido del equilibrio se pierden, sobre todo en cuanto vemos el suelo inclinarse bajo nuestros pies en esa casa imposible donde puede leerse la siguiente inscripcin para que el alma gane prudencia hay que buscar tranquilidad, burlndose a la vez de quien haga caso a la invitacin, advirtindole de inmediato: intenta tranquilizarte en esta morada, entra, a ver si encuentras la paz!. Todo nos empuja al clsico Carpe diem, aunque sean otros los lemas que puede leer sobre las paredes de roca: Come, juega, bebe, Concete a ti mismo, El silencio domina los astros, Desprecia las cosas terrenales, Despus de la muerte ninguna felicidad, despus de la muerte verdadera vulgaridad y quiz la ms inquietante, Cualquier pensamiento vuela que rodea la boca horrenda del ogro, atrayndonos hipnticamente a su interior, pese a que sepamos que nos estamos internando en la gruta de acceso al infierno. Uno no deja de pensar que tal vez un da el monstruo se canse de bostezar o gritar y cierre de golpe su boca, condenando para siempre a quien se atrevi a retarle.

Six Easy Pieces

El cine es una de las tcnicas que siempre ha conducido al arte hacia el mundo tecnolgico. La invencin de mquinas para capturar la realidad, transformarla e inventarla muestra la dependencia de directores y artistas con el mbito cientfico. Six Easy Pieces de Reynold Reynolds plasma una poca pasada donde los artistas y cientficos tenan las mismas preocupaciones: el tiempo y la mecnica comparten escena con la pintura y la msica. Todo bajo la inspiracin del libro Six Easy Pieces: Essentials of physics explained by its most brilliant teacher, donde el fsico Richard Feynman explica sus estudios e investigaciones. El vdeo es la ltima parte de la triloga Secrets: el primer film es Secret Life ganador del 2008 EMAF Festival Award at the European Media Art Festival Osnabrueck de Alemania) y el segundo es Secret Machine ganador del 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art 2009 de Rusia. Un ciclo de tres partes que explora las condiciones imperceptibles de la vida.

Bruno Pieters graduated in 1999 from the royal academy of fine arts in Antwerp. He went on to work for different labels such as Martin Margiela (Paris), Josephus Thimister (Paris), Antonio Pernas (Madrid), Christian Lacroix (Paris). In july 2001, Bruno was the first Belgian Antwerp graduate to present a couture collection during Paris couture week. inspired by a 1950s newlook suit. Bruno Pieters launched his first ready-to-wear collection in march of 2002, displaying his ever-present penchant for technique and craftsmanship. Bruno is first and foremost a technician, a constructionist, who likes to experiment with shape and proportion. in march 2006 Karl Lagerfeld photographed Bruno for Madame Figaro magazine. the photoshoot featured 30 of Paris best designers. In June 2007 Bruno was appointed the art director of the avant garde line Hugo from Hugo Boss.
